FIRST LOOK! Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’

Today we’re getting our first look at Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s new movie, ‘Django Unchained’.

DiCaprio looks awesome as a villainous plantation owner, who kidnaps Broomhilda (played by Kerry Washington), the wife of Jamie Foxx’s character.

“All Django wants to do is get his wife,” Foxx told EW’s about the new Quentin Tarantino film. “He’s not trying to cure or solve slavery. He just wants to get his life back.”

Foxx said that Tarantino’s tackles slavery in a way that few Westerns have ever attempted.

“There’s a beautiful way [Tarantino] found for the characters to talk to each other,” he said. “It’s mindblowing.”

For more on the film, including a first look at Foxx and Waltz in character, head over to EW.com.

“Django Unchained” is out in theaters on Christmas Day.

Leonardo DiCaprio reveals he almost turned down ‘Titanic’ for the lead in ‘Boogie Nights’

Here’s a new interview with Leonardo DiCaprio from The Sun. The interview talks about the women in his life. His mom, his girlfriend (sorta?) and Kate Winslet. He reveals he almost turned down Titanic for Boogie Nights. How awful would that have been! (The role eventually went to Mark Wahlberg, who did surprisingly well.)

Leo on his mom: “My mom, Irmelin, taught me the value of life. Her own life was saved by my grandmother during World War Two. When she was a toddler a broken leg had landed her in a German hospital. Refugees and soldiers were also in the hospital and she ended up contracting several major illnesses and stayed for two and a half years. My grandmother (Helene, who died in 2008, aged 93) came every day and nursed her back to health — the nurses did not have time. They basically left her for dead. When you see a picture of her, it’s heartbreaking. It brings tears to my eyes knowing what she has been through in her life. I have a picture, her first photograph, with this tiny little skirt. She is emaciated with a big belly. She had a belly full of worms.”

Parental guidance: “You do need parental guidance and I was in a great position with both my mum and dad. They split when I was a baby but even though I stayed with my mom they were both very much involved in my upbringing. It means I can enjoy wide interests. It made me want to travel, scuba dive, collectart, take classes in art and every place I travel I check out the museums. I have enjoyed watching wildlife in Africa and South America, far from Hollywood. My mom also taught me to get everything in perspective. I never got to the point when I was mean and cruel to people.”

He’s a clown for hire: “”I realize that I do not change the course of history. I am an actor, I do a movie, that’s the end of it. You have to realize we are just clowns for hire. After I had success it was great, at first, not to worry about money. It was on my mind when I was growing up. Just being able to buy my grandmother some scarves she wanted and not have to think about it was a sign of good times. It sounds corny but it gave me happiness at the time.”

Leo’s loves: “My first love? Boy, I don’t even remember. I suppose if I’d found my true love I would be married right now, wouldn’t I?”

Leo‘s turnoffs: “Pretentious women really turn me off. Vindictive women, too. So do opportunistic women. I think what turns me on about a girl is what most men find attractive — which is something genuine about them. Being a good person.”

He did Titanic because of Kate Winslet: “Titanic? I would love to say I predicted it would be one of the biggest hits in film history. I didn’t — and wondered whether I should do it at all. I resisted it for a long time because I had been offered the film Boogie Nights (about the 1970s porn industry, a role finally taken by Mark Wahlberg). The fact that Kate Winslet said “yes” was the final decider. She was awesome. We were definitely shoulders for each other to lean on. We had to be partners on the film. All the complaining in the world was done between us two, so we did not have to vent it on anyone else. But I am so glad to be part of that movie. Years from now, people will still be watching that film. I am part of something historical, in a lot of ways. It gave me so many opportunities, as an actor, to steer the course of my own destiny. I was able to take both my mother and grandmother to the world premiere of Titanic in London — one of my proudest moments.”

Leonardo is currently dating Erin Heatherton, a 22-year-old Victoria’s Secret model. Turns out she’s not his true love! Wonder how that felt when she read it. Even if they weren’t saying they loved each other – it would still sting a bit to read this if you were dating him.

Kate Winslet Is Freaked Out Watching ‘Titanic’ In 3D

‘Titanic‘ is heading back to theaters in April after receiving the 3D treatment and Kate Winslet is a little freaked out by the whole thing.  She recently got a small 17 minute peek at it and shared her thoughts.

“A whole new generation is going to get to experience the film,” Winslet tells USA Today. “It’s very exciting that I can actually sit with them — together — and we can all watch it in a movie theater. That is going to be quite amazing, actually.”

“I was literally like, ‘Oh my God, make it stop! Is that me? Oh my God, that’s me. Block my ears, somebody! Somebody club out my senses. Make it f-cking stop!’”

While her costar Leonardo DiCaprio “looks so young and so skinny,” in the 1997 blockbuster, Winslet, 36, admits she’s “slightly freaked out” about seeing her 21-year-old self onscreen again.

“I’m sure I wasn’t really a very good actress. Seriously, we are talking about something that happened 15 years ago. It is a very long time ago.  I’ve learned so much, and I’ve changed as a person so much since then. It is really quite weird. Can you imagine anything stranger? It’s going to be like famous all over again, Titanic all over again!”

I’m game to see this again in 3D.  I don’t honestly care about the 3D part of it, just seeing it on the big screen again will be fun!

Are there any movies you’d go to the theater to see even though it’s been available on DVD for years?

More Red Carpet Fashion From The Golden Globes

There weren’t many stand out fashions on the red carpet last night at the Golden Globes, but Sarah Michelle Gellar stepped out of the box a little with this bold Monique Lhuillier gown.  She shared that her daughter helped her pick it out:  “It’s funny — I didn’t try on that many dresses. They had them all lined up and I was working all week and my 2-year-old walked in, walked up this dress and said, ‘Mama, wear this!’ So I put it on and said, ‘OK!”

What do you think? Did two year old Charlotte send her mom out there in a hit or miss?

This round in the gallery we have Charlize Theron, Kelly Osbourne, Emma Stone, Sharon Osbourne, Helen Mirren, Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, Amy Poehler, Laura Linney, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Biel, Tina Fey and more!

Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio are over!

After dating for five months, Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio have broken up, reps for both the stars confirm to US Weekly. The reps add that the pair “remain friends”. Isn’t that nice.

First spotted getting cozy while aboard Steven Spielberg’s yacht in Monte Carlo on May 17 during the Cannes Film Festival, the couple embarked on a whirlwind, super-luxe summer romance that spanned the globe. During their time together, the Gossip Girl actress, 24, and Inception star, 36, took their PDA parade to romantic locales ranging from Venice, Italy to Anaheim, Calif. to NYC. In late August, Lively even flew thousands of miles from the U.S. to Sydney, Australia — for a quick weekend — where her beau was filming The Great Gatsby.

Weeks before he and Lively became an item, DiCaprio and model Bar Rafaeli called it quits on their on-and-off, five-year relationship. Back in October 2010, Lively and Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley ended their three-year romance.

The pair’s recent split is sure to come as a surprise to some DiCaprio pals, one of whom told Us they’d “never seen him like this with a girl.” Back in June, the couple were ensconced in DiCaprio’s L.A. home, where Lively “spent the whole time baking….Leo’s never dated a girl who can cook. And he’s smitten!” The duo also bonded with one another’s parents.

Echoed another insider this summer: “I bet they get engaged in six months.”

As for Lively, she’s long said she never lets public opinion affect her relationships.

“I have a strong sense of myself. That gives me a sense of security, you know? Every relationship you have, you’re learning and growing and taking something from that,” the actress recently told Glamour magazine. “So for me, it’s never been too dramatic of a thing when something ends.”

I’m not surprised in the least. Leo – like George Clooney - will never settle down. Mark my words! Who will the hot actor date next? I say Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Just putting it out there in the universe.
