This may or may not come as a surprise to you, but apparently Esquire’s covergirls are there to be objectified and help boost sales. I know, you’re shocked.

Esquire Editor Alex Blimes is fully disclosing the magazine’s intentions with their covers, which usually feature barely-dressed women. He admits the use of “ornamental” women, “in the same way we provide pictures of cool cars.” Mmmhmm….

“The women we feature in the magazine are ornamental,” he said, speaking on a panel at the Advertising Week Europe conference in London on Tuesday. “I could lie to you if you want and say we are interested in their brains as well. We are not. They are objectified.”

Bilmes, speaking on a panel hosted by Cosmopolitan editor Louise Court about feminism in the media and advertising, added that men “see women in 3D” in many different roles in life “but at certain times we like to see them sexy”.

“[Esquire] provide pictures of girls in the same way we provide pictures of cool cars,” he said. “It is ornamental. Women’s magazines do the same thing.”

He said that in his view Esquire was “more honest” than many titles, citing the “anti-feminist” example of a newspaper using a picture of model Naomi Campbell next to a financial story “because she shopped at Marks & Spencer once.”

He argued that Esquire was, in fact, “less rigid” in its portrayal of women than women’s magazines. “We are more ethnically diverse, more shape diverse,” he said. “In fashion magazines women are much thinner. We have older women, not really old, in their 40s.”

He went on to cite the example of actress Cameron Diaz, who is in her 40s, as an “older” women used on the cover of a recent issue of Esquire. “Most women’s magazines don’t put them [older women] in their magazines.”

He said the women’s magazine industry and advertising targeting women were primarily responsible for perpetuating stereotyped and negative images of women.

I like how Cameron Diaz is considered “older.” Ugh, PLEASE. Anyway, I think the guy comes off like a pig, honestly, he should have just kept the comments to himself.

Here’s my thing. Cameron Daiz – Mila Kunis – Megan Fox…. they weren’t drug there kicking and screaming. These girls certainly don’t look like they were forced into taking their clothes off. If this guy is objectifying women, the women certainly don’t mind. I don’t know…. victimless crime?

Miley Cyrus has gone Rachel!

The singer had a very famous house call over the weekend, when one of Hollywood’s most famous stylists, Chris McMillan, stopped by for an appointment. Chris is one of Hollywood’s hottest hair dressers, the man, in fact, behind Jennifer Aniston’s “Rachel” haircut from her ‘Friends’ days.

Not only has McMillan worked with Jennifer Aniston, he’s also cut the hair of Cameron Diaz and Nicole Richie.

During McMillan’s visit, the 19-year-old Tweeted pics of the cut and color process. “Who says Chris McMillan doesn’t color? Oh yeah Chris himself Just for his favorite little angel,” Cyrus wrote on Saturday.

After he was done, Miley Tweeted a picture of her signature high bun, and said ”Whew. Still fits in bun.”

What was behind Miley’s transformation? Could it be for her wedding to fiance Liam Hemsworth?

I guess sometimes it just doesn’t matter who you are, you may not get a cab!

Yesterday Cameron Diaz was unable to hail a taxi in New York City, even after pointing out who she was!! The 38-year-old actress was spotted waving her arms, and pointing at herself as if to say “Do you know who I am!”

Cameron eventually gave up, and walked down the road while typing on her phone.

Here are some new pictures from the London premiere of ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’. Seems like Cameron Diaz is the only one really promoting the heck out of this movie. Jennifer Lopez has only attended one premiere – and I’m not really sure why.

So here are Cameron Diaz, Cheryl Cole and Anna Kendrick. Cameron is wearing Stella McCartney. I actually think she looks really great. It shows off her boy in all the right areas, and makes her look more feminine. I wish the pants were a bit shorter, with legs as long as hers – I can’t believe they didn’t trim those bad boys up.

Cheryl Cole is wearing Victoria Beckham, and Anna Kendrick is wearing an ugly dress by Christian Dior.

Here are some new pictures of Jennifer Lopez at last night’s Los Angeles premiere of ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’.

Jennifer wore this nude-colored Maria Lucia Hohan dress, with a neckline plunging to her waist.  I’m really unsure what I think about this dress. My gut tells me I don’t like it – but if I try to pick a reason why, I’m coming up empty handed. I think it’s too big? Too matronly looking? I don’t know.

E! caught up with Jennifer on the red carpet, and she opened up about everything from her current boyfriend, Casper Smart, to her ex-husband Marc Anthony, and some advice she has for Britney Spears and Demi Lovato (who were announced yesterday as judges on The X Factor).

So, how do Lopez and her dancer beau decide how to work the carpet at big events like this one?

“He just does what he wants to do,” Lopez said. “He knows I’m working, and we just play it by ear. We don’t try to plan it too much. It’s a special occasion.”

And speaking of working, Lopez dished on trying to find balance when it comes to work and family.

“It is just like any working mom’s dilemma,” the 42-year-old thesp said. “It’s tough. It’s a balancing act. You put them first and then you have all these other things that you have to do, that you have to give your time to as well, and you have to make sure that they’re OK in the process.”

One thing Lopez has appeared to find balance with is her relationship with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, with whom she cohosts the Spanish reality competition show, Q’Viva.

“[Marc and I] are gonna be performing together in Las Vegas with our whole Q’Viva crew,” Lopez said. “Marc and I were friends for 10 years before we got married. We got married, we had two beautiful children, and we’re still friends. Things disappointingly don’t work out the way that you dream them in your mind sometimes. That’s life. But, that doesn’t mean that the caring goes away or the friendship or the things that brought you together disappear. They haven’t for us, so we just want to be great parents and great friends and just try to do things well for them.”

And before stepping away into the premiere, the American Idol judge offered a little bit of advice for new X Factor judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.

“Be yourself,” Lopez said. “That’s what I think every time I’m out there. Treat people how I want to be treated.”

Here are new photos from the Los Angeles premiere of ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’!

Cameron Diaz is one of the bigger stars in the film, alongside Jennifer Lopez and Elizabeth Banks.

Cameron went with a black (very short) Valentino dress. I don’t hate the dress, but I don’t necessarily love it either. It’s nice that she’s going for a bit of a softer look, I prefer this much more over the pants suits she wears sometimes.

Cameron recently explained that she thinks women should be strong.

“When I’m not working I train every day that I can. I like weights. It’s important for women to have strong muscles – that’s what carries you,” she explained.

Cameron has been open about her attitude towards ageing in the past. It isn’t something she is that concerned with as she is happy with how her life is at the moment.

The blonde beauty feels content, explaining she has never overly worried about her life.

“I don’t worry about age. I never have. I couldn’t’ wait to get into my thirties when I was in my twenties. I don’t want to go back to being 20, it was torture,” she said in an interview with British magazine Look.

“[My self-confidence] has always been there and it’s grown as I’ve got older and wiser.”

Last night was the premiere of ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’ in New York City. Most of the movie’s stars were there (where was J.Lo?), including Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks and Brooklyn Decker.

Cameron Diaz looked very under-dressed for the event, in black pants and a plain white top. She doesn’t look bad, I’m just surprised she didn’t turn it up a notch for the red carpet.

Elizabeth Banks wore a beautiful Peter Pilotto dress, while Brooklyn wore a plain white tube dress.
