In the midst of the political upheaval in Libya, celebs such as Beyonce, Usher, Mariah Carey and Nelly Furtado have been under major scrutiny for performing for the leader in the past, some for up to $2 million.

Singer Nelly Furtado tweeted on Tuesday that she is planning on donating the $1 million she received in 2007 to charity, and there has been a public outcry for the other entertainers to follow in her footsteps.

Beyonce’s spokesperson, Yvette Noel-Schure, made this statement on behalf of the pop star:

“All monies paid to Beyonce for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago. Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause.”

Both Furtado and Beyonce are the only celebs that have made any statements regarding the performances. Calls to the other performers haven’t been returned.

Usher enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant in Miami, Florida with a few friends on December 30, 2010. Usher has recently hit the media and being accused of steeling from the cartoon character Homer Simpson.

It’s said that the hit jingle “OMG” actually came from a song the yellow funny man sang during a 2003 holiday episode of The Simpsons with the lyrics “Christmas in December, wow, wow, wow. Give me tons of presents, now, now, now!” Meanwhile Usher’s “OMG” goes like this: “Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow. Honey got some boobies like wow, oh, wow.” Did Usher really created his song based on a cartoon characters jingle?

Being a sex symbol has its dangers as Usher learned firsthand at his New York City concert.

The crooner brought an ecstatic female fan onstage Monday night for a serenade of his sensual song “Trading Places” at Madison Square Garden. He sat her on a couch while he caressed her.

Then, after they changed positions, the overexcited fan tried to move her leg to get closer to him. Her stiletto boot heel knocked him in the nose.

The fan tried to smooth things over by massaging Usher’s face, but there was no need: Usher wasn’t hurt and cracked a joke about it.

The hunk rose to stardom as soon as he became a teenager after landing a record deal with LaFace Records following an appearance on TV talent show “Star Search.”

Usher has accused TV talent shows of killing the music industry.

Just weeks after the singer appeared as a mentor on the current season of American Idol, Usher has blasted the show and its rivals for making talented singers celebrities and then casting them aside.

He says, “The true art form of music is being lost, because it seems so easy that everyone can do it, and that it can happen overnight. Television is a lie. It can’t happen overnight. The artist who thinks that it can just comes and goes. The reason why great singers cannot exist in this time is maybe because they’re not properly managed, and maybe they don’t understand the full gamut of what being an entertainer is.

“We’re dealing with an industry that is slowly but surely dying, every day. There’s the record companies that are mass-producing these versions of these people; versions of this broken art. While it works, because it sells records, it damages the business.”

In Touch can exclusively reveal that Usher and his wife, Tameka Foster, are divorcing. “The Grammy winner has been living apart from his wife for nearly a year after almost two years of marriage,” the insider exclusively tells In Touch, adding, “Usher’s primary concern is for his children. He is a great father and just wants to do what is right for them.”

The soon-to-be exes have two kids together, Usher Raymond V, 18 months, and Naviyd, 6 months. And the insider says that it’s more than just talk — the divorce papers were filed in Atlanta this morning.

The couple has faced problems in the past. In November 2008, In Touch reported that Usher was flirting with girls at a party in Miami, and even asked a model what she was doing afterward. And in February, In Touch revealed that although Usher flew to Tameka’s side after she suffered cardiac arrest from cosmetic surgery in Brazil, he “had no idea that she was there to have surgery.”
