T.R. Knight wants to leave Grey’s Anatomy:

The revolving door at Grey’s Anatomy has taken another shocking spin. Multiple sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly’s Ausiello Files that T.R. Knight has asked to be released from his contract, a request that both ABC and Grey’s show-runner Shonda Rhimes appear poised to grant. “They’re working out the details now,” whispers an ABC insider. (A network rep was unavailable for comment.)

There’s no word on when Knight would make his final appearance, but, contrary to a report on the gossip blog crazydaysandnights.com, he has not walked off the show. “He’s still working,” maintains my Grey’s mole.

Rumors of Knight’s unhappiness at Grey’s date back to the early days of Isaiahgate. Per an insider, the actor was disappointed that it took Rhimes so long to publicly condemn Washington’s use of the F-word, even as his co-stars (Katherine Heigl, Patrick Dempsey, etc.) rallied to his defense. (The incident led Knight to come out as a gay man.) The boss lady eventually released a statement denouncing Washington’s behavior, but word is, it was too little, too late. Nonetheless, my Grey’s source insists Knight does not want out of his contract for that reason, adding, “He just feels it’s time to move on.”

T.R. Knight is thrilled his pal Ellen DeGeneres married Portia de Rossi this weekend, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be the next gay celebrity to say “I do.”

“I’m happy for them,” Knight said at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Hot in Hollywood Awards Saturday at L.A. nightclub Avalon, adding, “I’m very happy that we can talk about this subject—very, very happy.”

While the Grey’s Anatomy star was quick to say he and boyfriend Mark Cornelsen aren’t planning a wedding “right now,” he did beam, “We just celebrated a little over eight months though!”

But when it came time to talk about the new season of Grey’s, Knight was tight-lipped…

“They’ll kill me,” he said. “You don’t understand. There’s a room they take us into.”

Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz said she wishes she knew more about what is going on with her show—particularly a certain male hottie. “There’s somebody new coming to Mode,” Oritz said. “He’s gonna be hot, but they won’t tell me who he is!”

Also at the awards were host America Ferrera, honoree Jaime Pressly, Katherine Heigl, Mark Indelicato, Jane Lynch, Antonio Sabato Jr., Emily Deschanel, Josh Radnor and Tila Tequila.

Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight has defended his decision to date a man 16 years his junior – insisting they “love each other”.

Knight, 35, has been involved with 19-year-old Mark Cornelson since February and the age gap has put their romance under intense scrutiny.

But the actor is convinced that although some people might take a negative view – it doesn’t matter because their relationship is so special.

He tells People.com, “It’s bound to raise some eyebrows but we love each other. (He is) an amazing guy. I love being around him. I love what we have.”

Knight admits that although it is too soon to think about a wedding, he definitely thinks his relationship with Cornell will last.

He adds, “We’ve only known each other for six months, so I think it’s a little soon to consider marriage. I don’t think you date anyone that you don’t see a future with.”

Even though Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight recently told reporters that he and boyfriend Mark Cornelson are “not having a commitment ceremony, ” multiple sources are telling OK! the couple have every intention of getting hitched.

According to the whispers going around Hollywood, the 35-year-old actor, who was forced to come out of the closet in October 2006 after some on-set drama on the hit ABC medical drama, could say “I do” to his 19-year-old beau as early as tonight. Additionally, insiders tell OK! that the ceremony itself will be at a trendy West Hollywood hotspot.

“It’s going to be a big celebration,” one insider says about the event.

T.R. Knight and beau Mark Cornelsen won’t be following Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi down the aisle just yet – but they are happily living together.

“Mark just moved here from San Francisco,” Knight gushed to Usmagazine.com at the Butterfly Ball in L.A. Saturday.

The Grey’s Anatomy star dismissed rumors they’re planning to wed and that he’ll officiate a commitment ceremony.

“To clarify, we are not having a commitment ceremony and I am not performing a commitment ceremony,” he told Us.

Knight said the recent legalization of gay marriage in California gave him an “extraordinary feeling.”

“Once you are given something that you were never allowed before, you realize how much of a second class person you were before,” he told Us. “That is horrible and fantastic at the same time. It makes me want to sob and scream with joy all at the same time.”

“The floodgates have been opened they will never be closed,” Cornelsen added.

Despite his youth, Cornelsen, 19, has received a warm welcome from Knight’s Grey’s Anatomy castmates.

“Someone in particular, I won’t mention names told me, ‘You know I like him more than I like you, right?’” the actor, 35, joked. “They said it about three or four times so it’s kind of not as funny as it was the first time anymore.”

“They love him,” Knight said. “They’re like, ‘When is he coming?’ They want him there.”

“They’re all wonderful and so sweet,” Cornelson raved to Us. “It’s amazing.”
