MTV is about to bring a rockin’ night to the City That Never Sleeps!
Following last year’s show in LA, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will grace New York’s Radio City Music Hall before a live audience on September 13 at 9 pm. British bad boy comedian Russell Brand will once again host the iconic music show, and teen star Taylor Swift will perform hits off her multi-platinum album Fearless.
“I’m so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done!” Taylor gushed.

Taking the stage for the first time ever at the VMAs will be country-pop superstar Taylor Swift, who will perform a brand-new version of “You Belong With Me,” a single from her Billboard-topping Fearless.
“I’m so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done!” Swift said. “I love incorporating theatrics into my performances, and the VMAs have always allowed artists to run with that. MTV has been so good to me, and I could not be more excited about this year’s VMAs!”
Joining Swift will be British rock trio Muse, making their American TV debut. The band will perform their newest single, “Uprising,” off their forthcoming album, The Resistance.

Taylor Swift avoids the wild Hollywood party scene – because she’s not interested in “getting wasted”.
The country singer is rarely seen out and about at celebrity haunts, opting only to put in appearances at music award ceremonies.
And the clean-cut blonde insists you’ll never catch her stumbling out of a club.
Swift tells Glamour magazine, “I’ve never been fascinated by the party lifestyle. Penciling in a night to get wasted is not something I want to do. I don’t think I’d be a party girl (even if I were) in college. When I was in high school, I remember seeing girls crying in the bathroom every Monday about what they did at a party that weekend. I never wanted to be that girl crying in the bathroom.”

Even at the young age of 19, country star Taylor Swift has already done enough touring and traveling to know that having — and keeping — a steady boyfriend is a lot easier said than done.
“It’s always going to be long-distance, even if I date the boy who lives next door to me in Nashville,” she admits in the upcoming issue of Glamour. “I’ll be flying to see him and flying him places to see me. It feels like it would involve more scheduling, and I already deal with a lot of scheduling in my life.”
But considering Taylor’s penchant for writing confessional songs about the real people in her life, maybe it’s for the best that the young guys out there don’t get their hopes up?
“For me, rebelling is done with words,” she explains about her candid songs. “I love to write honest songs that name real people, then get up onstage and live out those emotions in front of 15,000 people. Penciling in a night to get wasted is not something I want to do.”

Who knew Taylor Swift could rap?
Swift and T-Pain kicked off last night’s CMT Awards in Nashville with a hilarious duet, “Thug Story” — a spinoff of her hit song, “Love Story.” (Watch above.)
“I’m 8-foot 4, blonde hair to the floor,” she rhymes. “I ain’t got a gun. I never really been in a club. Still live with my parents, but I’m still a thug!”
T-Pain — rocking his famous Auto-Tune voice — adds: “It’s a thug story, can you handle that?”
Before the show, T-Pain told Us that working with Swift (who won Video of the Year and Female Vide of the Year for “Love Story”) was “pretty awesome.
“She has a sense of humor that I have not seen in many people,” he added.
Brad Paisley was the big winner on last night’s award show. He took home three awards: CMT Performance of the Year, Male Video of the Year and Collaboration of the Year for “Start a Band,” his Keith Urban duet.
Rascal Flatts won Group Video of the Year for “Every Day, Sugarland won Duo of the Year for their “All I Want to Do” and Zac Brown Band won Breakthrough Video for “Chicken Fried.”
