Man falls at Sharon Stone’s estate & sues her

Sharon Stone

A man who fell and injured himself on Sharon Stone’s estate is suing the actress for unspecified damages.

Peter Krause (not the Dirty Sexy Money actor) claims he fell down a “large, concealed drop-off” while at Stone’s home in 2006, and he has been fighting pain from his injured ever since. But the Basic Instinct star and her aides are baffled about the lawsuit – because they have no idea who the guy is.

A representative tells TMZ.com, “There’s no record of this individual being on the property and likewise there’s no record reporting this individual being injured on the property. Neither Ms. Stone or her attorneys have seen a copy of this complaint.”

Bad karma for Sharon Stone!

Sharon Stone

The bad “karma” keeps rolling for Sharon Stone, as more than 1,000 Chinese earthquake victims and a New York lawyer are demanding a $1 billion pay-out – or maybe just an apology.

The “Basic Instinct” star was recently served with legal papers announcing attorney Ming Hai’s intention to sue her for harming Chinese people when she suggested the catastrophic quake last May was “karma” for the regime’s occupation of Tibet.

“For the families who have lost their loved ones or lost limbs or suffered severe injuries, your . . . statement and act has caused extreme emotional distress,” Ming wrote, citing the controversial comments Stone made at the Cannes Film Festival.

In a public apology last month, Stone, 50, said she “misspoke” and “could not be more regretful for that mistake.”

In April, two women sued CNN for $1 billion – a dollar for every Chinese person – because anchor Jack Cafferty said the country is led by a “bunch of goons and thugs.”

Sharon Stone apologizes AGAIN for China remarks

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone issued another apology for her remarks at the Cannes Film Festival about the earthquakes in China.

“There have been numerous reports about what I said in Cannes,” she said in a statement Wednesday. “I would like to set the record straight about what I feel in my heart and end all of the misunderstandings. Yes, I misspoke. I could not be more regretful of that mistake. It was unintentional. I apologize, those words were never meant to be hurtful to anyone, they were an accident of my distraction and a product of news sensationalism. I am deeply saddened by the pain that this whole situation has caused the victims of the devastating earthquake in China.”

Stone, 50, who has a long history of political activism and is friends with Tibet’s exiled leader, the Dalai Lama, said at the film festival she was “not happy” with the Chinese treatment of the Tibetans and wondered aloud whether karma was at work with the earthquakes.

This year’s Shanghai International Film Festival has refused to invite the Basic Instinct star. Stone had attended the event last year.

This was her latest apology. She issued one last week, saying, “I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people.”

Sharon Stone ads & posters axed in China

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone has suffered another blow after her comments following China’s recent earthquake – French fashion house Christian Dior has axed her promotional posters in the country.

The actress has come under attack from officials in China for suggesting the country’s recent earthquake was caused by “karma” – and a leading cinema chain has already threatened to ban her films.

But now bosses at Christian Dior have banned adverts featuring the star in China.

A spokesman at the company’s Shanghai headquarters said, “We don’t agree with her hasty, unreflecting remarks and we deeply regret them.
“Dior was one of the first international brands to enter China and has won the affection and respect of the consuming public. We absolutely do not support any remark that hurts the Chinese people’s feelings.”

Meanwhile, Stone herself has apologized for the interview.

She said in a statement: “Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people.
“I am willing to take part in the relief work of China’s earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people.”

The outspoken actress was talking to a Chinese media outlet on Thursday when she linked the recent disaster, which left more than 67,000 people dead, to China’s recent treatment of Tibetans.

Sharon Stone attacked for karma comments

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone has been criticized in China after she suggested that the recent earthquake may have been caused by bad “karma”.

The Basic Instinct actress had told reporters at the Cannes film festival that the disaster, which has claimed more than 67,000 lives, could have been a recrimination for China’s human rights records in Tibet.

Her comments have been labelled “inappropriate” by filmmakers in the region, who have vowed to no longer screen her movies.

“I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans, because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else,” he had told a Hong Kong film crew in an interview last week.

“And so, I have been very concerned about how to think and what to do about that because I don’t like… that.

“I’ve been concerned about how we should deal with the Olympics, because they’re not being nice to the Dalai Lama who is a good friend of mine,” she continued.

“And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and I thought, is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

Ng See-Yuen, chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers and the founder of the UME Cineplex chain, was quoted by the Hollywood Reporter as saying Stone’s comments were “inappropriate”.

He said actors should not bring their personal beliefs to commenting on a disaster that has killed thousands and left five million people homeless and vowed that UME cinemas, which have branches in the lucrative movie markets of Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Guangzhou, would no longer screen Stone’s movies.

Cosmetic advertisements featuring the 50-year-old’s image have been removed from Christian Dior boutiques in Beijing department stores, according to the Beijing Times newspaper and she has come in for significant criticism from Chinese websites.
