Shakira has flown to Paris, France to meet recently freed political prisoner Ingrid Betancourt.
The singer was the first celebrity to note the rescue of 15 captives who were held by revolutionaries in her native Colombia, releasing a statement on the day Betancourt was freed.
And, on Wednesday, Shakira met the former Colombian presidential candidate at the Hotel Meurice in Paris.
In her former statement, Shakira hailed the hostage rescue as “a historic day for all of us, for this country that has suffered a lot.”
The singer added, “What a proud day to be Colombian!”

Shakira has vowed to continue the fight to free hostages held in her native Colombia.
The Whenever, Wherever hitmaker recently praised the rescue of 15 captives who were held by the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) for six years.
And Shakira insists the fight against terrorism in the country is far from over.
In an open letter to the former hostages, the singer - along with other Latin music stars including Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bose, Juanes, and Carlos Vives - has pledged to fight on until all the captives currently being held are given their freedom.
The letter reads, “We will continue until we see all of them free. Our eyes and lips will not rest until we see and kiss those who remain captives of those without conscience.”

Shakira is doing a good deed. Of course, while doing this deed, she is making me incredibly jealous that she is able to donate $40 million dollars to Solidarity Foundation that she co-founded with Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The money will be used to aid Peruvian earthquake victims, as well as hurricane suffering in Nicaragua. The singer herself went to visit the devastated areas and it touched her so much, she donated all that money.
She told press, “I’ve seen first-hand many of the challenges facing Latin America. These are challenging problems that no one person can address, but working together everyone can help make a difference.”

Beyonce Knowles told MTV that she’s always been a fan of Shakira. “I’ve always loved her and I’ve always wanted to work with her and the song fits perfectly,” she said.
Beyonce explained the premise of the song: “It basically talks about two women. The same guy is trying to get at both of them but instead of them fighting, they’re saying, ‘He’s a beautiful liar, let’s not fight, let’s stick together - forget him!’ I think it’s a great concept.”
