The usually connected-at-the-hip Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson haven’t been seen together much lately, but the Mean Girls star wants to put to rest rumors that they’ve split. “We never broke up,” Lindsay tells Life & Style. “People don’t have to be together every second. It’s healthy to miss someone, and if you’re in it for the long run, it’s good to know that.”

An insider close to the starlet says the girls are dialing things down — to save their relationship. “They needed space and time,” says the insider. “They’ve been on top of each other with living and work and life. Lindsay’s now in a new house around the corner from Sam. It’s going to allow them some space.”

Still, they’re spending time together. The couple stepped out on Jan. 12 for dinner at West Hollywood’s Matsuhisa. And Lindsay and Sam haven’t changed their Facebook statuses from “in a relationship,” although Linds did update her Facebook page several times in the early morning of Jan. 9 with cryptic messages like “Lindsay deserves the best and the truth,” and “Happiness and love are just a choice away.”

Rough patches are nothing new for the volatile couple. “They break up and make up all the time,” says the Lindsay insider. “There are a lot of speed bumps in this relationship — but that’s part of the attraction.”

Lindsay Lohan strongly denied media reports she has split with Samantha Ronson.

In a MySpace Celebrity Blog posting under “RUMORS,” the actress writes, “Little piece of TRUE information: We did NOT break up!”

Lohan, 22, tells media outlets reporting the split, “Get your stories straight please. It’s really annoying to have all of your friends emailing you saying, i saw, i read, etc… NOT TRUE.”

She signs the post with a happy face and “xoxox Lindsay.”

After a visit to a Los Angeles hospital Sunday afternoon, Samantha Ronson is thanking supporters on her MySpace blog.

“Thanks for all your messages,” Ronson, 31, wrote in a post on Sunday. “I’m home and all good. Was just pretty exhausted from traveling and working too much to buy Chanukah gifts and my Jewish mother was worried about me.”

Ronson went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, arriving with girlfriend Lindsay Lohan. The night before, the pair were at Hollywood’s Ecco Ultra Lounge, where Ronson spun along with Adam 12 and Benji Madden. Lohan left the club before the end of Ronson’s set.

As for her recovery, Ronson writes: “I had good company and a Jerry’s Deli delivery of chicken soup and potato pancakes and am feeling much better. [I] am back to watching all my favourite Jerry Bruckheimer shows.”

Despite rumors, Lindsay Lohan says she and girlfriend Samantha Ronson are not calling it quits.

On Monday, she blogged on her MySpace Celebrity page: “Oy vey! Rumors. Just to clear this up, because I have been getting a lot of emails asking me this one question … Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan (me) are NOT breaking up.”

To highlight how blissful things are, the actress noted the song she is currently listening to: “Happy Together” by The Turtles.

In December’s Harper’s Bazaar, Lohan declared her love for the celeb deejay.

“She’s a wonderful person and I love her very much,” she said.

But she added that she isn’t comfortable talking about their romance.

“I feel like it jinxes it,” said the star. “It’s hard. The second I start talking about whomever I’m seeing, a month or two later it’s failed.”
