Rob Lowe: Allegations are hurting my work prospects

Rob Lowe

Actor Rob Lowe reiterates in a sworn declaration that he never “acted inappropriately” with two former nannies and says allegations by the women are costing him considerable work opportunities, City News Service reports.

Lowe and his wife Sheryl sued the ex-nannies, Laura Boyce and Jessica Gibson, in April for allegedly breaching confidentiality agreements with the celebrity couple. Both women then countersued the Lowes.

The actor states that the allegations, coming after claims already made by Gibson, are costing him a lot of money. “Since the headline that a second nanny sued me for sexual harassment, I have been passed over for at least three commercials, any of which could have ultimately resulted in income of over $1 million,” Lowe says.

“I have never acted inappropriately with Ms. Gibson or Ms. Boyce,” Lowe states in a declaration filed Wednesday with Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis in Los Angeles, according to City News Service. The declaration is in support of Lowe’s opposition to a motion by Boyce to dismiss his lawsuit.

Boyce has moved to dismiss the celebrity couple’s lawsuit on grounds that it infringes on her right to free speech. Boyce is also getting some help with her motion in the form of a court declaration from Gibson, who is involved in separate dueling lawsuits with the Lowes in Santa Barbara.

Rob Lowe’s nanny appeals for her claim to be reinstated

Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe’s former nanny is appealing to a judge to reinstate several allegations in her client’s sexual harassment lawsuit against the actor – despite previously claiming victory in the court ruling.

The Brothers & Sisters star sued Jessica Gibson in April, claiming she tried to extort money out of him.

Gibson countersued, accusing the actor of groping her and exposing himself.

California Superior Court Judge Denise de Bellefeuille threw out four of Lowe’s claims against Gibson in July – including his allegations that she defamed him – along with one of the nanny’s accusations in her countersuit.

At the time, Gibson’s lawyer Gloria Allred hailed the judge’s decision as a “huge victory”, despite losing one aspect of the case.
But now website TMZ.com claims Allred has filed an appeal against the ruling, and wants a higher court to reinstate Gibson’s allegation.

The appeal means Allred is likely to have to wait another month before getting Lowe to give a deposition – delaying her own case until a decision on the appeal is made. The nature of that claim is not known as WENN goes to press.

Lowe is also being sued by a second nanny, Laura Boyce, but has denied any improper behavior.

Judge tosses claims in Rob Lowe nanny case

Rob Lowe

A judge has dismissed several claims on both sides of Rob Lowe’s legal battle with former nanny Jessica Gibson, according to People magazine.

The judge dismissed Gibson’s retaliation claim against Lowe, and also dismissed four of Lowe’s defamation claims against Gibson, ruling that she is protected by laws allowing workers to protest working conditions.

Lowe’s attorney Larry Stein told People, “We didn’t lose anything today. I’m delighted with the dismissal we won, and in essence, our lawsuit against Gibson remains totally intact.”

On the other hand, Gibson’s attorney, Gloria Allred, told People, “This is a huge victory for us today.”

On April 7, Rob and his wife Sheryl filed lawsuits against three former employees: Gibson, former nanny Laura Boyce and a former chef named Peter Clements. One week later, on April 14, Gibson filed her own lawsuit against the Lowes, and Boyce later filed a suit as well. The suit the Lowes filed against Clements was dismissed in May.

Rob Lowe wins some, loses some

Rob Lowe

Both Rob Lowe and Jessica Gibson had important parts of their cases thrown out in court today — and if you ask their attorneys, they both came out winners.

The judge threw out Jessica’s retaliation claim — she had previously said she was fired after she complained about alleged sexual harassment . But the judge also tossed out four of the Lowe’s claims — the biggest one was their allegation of defamation.

Jessica Gibson’s attorney, Gloria Allred, tells us, “He lost the heart of his case, which is defamation, and we are permitted to proceed with the heart of our case, which was and still is our allegation that Rob Lowe sexually harassed Jessica.”

Lowe’s attorney, Larry Stein, tells TMZ, “I’m delighted with the court’s ruling today. It removed the retaliation claim, which Ms. Allred had been focusing on and left in six claims, which allows us to prosecute every claim we’ve made.”

Rob Lowe’s confidentiality agreement is missing, according to his former nanny’s lawyers

Rob & Sheryl Lowe

Rob Lowe has reportedly lost the confidentiality agreement he is using as a qualifying piece of evidence in the lawsuit he has filed against a former nanny, according to her lawyers.

In April, the Lowe’s former nanny Jessica Gibson filed a lawsuit in California, alleging Lowe placed his hand inside her “pants in order to touch her crotch” and “grabbed Gibson’s buttocks without consent” several times between September 2005 to January 2008.

Gibson also alleges Lowe repeatedly exposed his penis to her, as well as frequently asking her “to touch his penis.”
Lowe counters Gibson for violating a confidentiality agreement, defamation and infliction of emotional distress.

However, in court papers filed on Thursday at Santa Barbara’s Superior Court, California, Gibson’s lawyers asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit after Lowe’s legal team revealed the document was “missing”, according to People.com.

The dismissal motion states: “In effect, Ms. Gibson has been sued for breach of a nonexistent contract. The Lowes set out to punish Ms. Gibson … and intimidate any and all who might want to assert (their rights).”

Gibson, 24, denies she was ever made to sign a confidentiality agreement before or during her time with the Lowes.

But, a source tells People.com, “Everyone who works for Rob knows that confidentiality agreements must be signed. There are plenty people who can verify that Jessica signed one. But after her employment ended, the papers went missing.”

When questioned about the “missing” document, Lowe’s lawyer Larry Stein answered, “We’ll be responding to this in court, which is the appropriate way.”

Lowe faces a lawsuit from a second nanny, Laura Boyce, who also accuses the star of harassment. A hearing on the case is set for June 19th.

Rob Lowe denies accusations in nanny’s sexual harassment lawsuit

Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe and his wife Sheryl have formally denied all accusations made against them by their former childminder after filing a response to her sexual harassment lawsuit.

Laura Boyce, who worked for the Lowe family last year, has accused Sheryl of creating an “extremely sexually offensive and hostile work environment”, claiming her ex-boss quizzed her about the size of her African-American boyfriend’s penis and regularly paraded around the family home naked.

But, in legal papers filed in Los Angeles County Superior court on Friday, the Lowes have refuted the allegations, insisting they behaved in no such manner.

They have denied every one of her accusations and have made reference to the statute of limitations, claiming Boyce waited too long before suing them.

The Lowes have also called on a judge to dismiss the case because Boyce has “unclean hands”, indicating that even if the couple behaved inappropriately towards the nanny, she has also been unprofessional and therefore doesn’t have a righteous case, reports website TMZ.com.

Lowe and his wife filed countersuits against Boyce and two other ex-employees on April 7th after claiming they’re the victims of an attempted extortion scheme, led by another former nanny, Jessica Gibson.

Rob Lowe’s deal with his chef criticized by his former nannie’s lawyer

Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe’s attempts to dismiss a lawsuit filed against his former chef will “blow up in his face”, according to the attorney representing his two ex-childminders.

The former West Wing star has been locked in a legal battle with his three previous employees since April.

Nannies Jessica Gibson and Laura Boyce have both accused Lowe of sexual harassment, while cook Peter Clements filed suit against the star and his family for wrongful termination.

Lowe and his wife Sheryl have vehemently denied all claims and hit back with their own lawsuits, claiming they’re the victims of an attempted extortion scheme, led by Gibson.

However, Lowe moved to have his accusations against Clements dropped on Friday, after the chef reportedly agreed to provide information about Gibson and Boyce to help the actor’s case against them.

But Gloria Allred, the nannies’ lawyer, has slammed Lowe’s tactics – and insists the purported deal he’s reached with Clements will do nothing to benefit his legal cases against her clients.

She tells TMZ.com, “We believe that Mr. Lowe’s latest legal maneuvre will blow up in his face and will not get him out of the hot soup that he has landed in because of the two lawsuits that we have filed against him.

“Whatever Mr. Lowe has attempted to cook up smells bad – and will leave a lasting bad taste in his attempts to go after two innocent nannies who loved and cared for his children.”

The Lowes’ suit against Clements is expected to be formally dismissed later this week.

Clements is also due to drop his accusations against the Lowes.
