There’s a doctor in the house of Versace. Patrick Dempsey, aka Dr. McDreamy of “Grey’s Anatomy,” cuts a strikingly modern figure in Versace’s spring ad campaign, set to bow in the February editions of select fashion and lifestyle magazines. The campaign was shot by Mario Testino last November in Los Angeles.

Dempsey wears a slim, two-button chocolate brown suit; a white button-down (true button-front for Quinn) shirt, and a deep purple tie in several of the images. The background is clean white, save for a few moody shadows.

In other photos he sports sleek sunglasses, a bit of scruff and a broken-in leather jacket. “I discovered that Patrick is a man who is not afraid to like or even love fashion,” Donatella Versace said. “He’s got extremely refined taste.”

Dempsey is the latest celebrity to pose for chez Versace. Others have included Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and on the women’s side, Demi Moore and Madonna, among others.

Patrick Dempsey has declined his invitation to Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl’s wedding in favor of spending the holiday with his family.

Heigl, 29, is set to marry singer Josh Kelley, 27, on December 23rd. “I am so happy for her,” he tells Entertainment Tonight’s.

“I’ve never seen her so happy,” he added. “He’s a great guy, too, and they are a great couple.”

Dempsey, 41, will be spending the holiday with his wife Jill, daughter Tallulah, & 10-month-old twins Darby and Sullivan.

“It’s the first Christmas with the boys. They’ll be walking by then, so we’re excited,” he tells ET. Dempsey might be a no-show, but Grey’s will be represented at the wedding by castmate T.R. Knight, who will be Heigl’s bridesman.

What do we think about the term “bridesman”? As a chica with more guy friends than gal, I think I may be one of the few to have a bridesman (or two) at my own wedding!

Donatella Versace has tapped Patrick Dempsey as the new Versace man— for an unprecedented two years. Dempsey, who was photographed for the line by Mario Testino late last month, will first appear in the house’s Spring men’s ad campaign starting in February.

Donatella said of her choice: “Patrick represents everything that is great about this collection; he has that confidence, completely comfortable in his own skin, that is so attractive. He is the modern man of today and of course looks fantastic in the clothes.”

Uh, YEAH HE DOES!  Swoon, loves him.

Patrick Dempsey has been named the new face of Versace for their spring/summer men’s line! Patrick was rated number 2 for the second year in a row on the  People’s Sexiest Man Alive poll.

“It was so lovely to work with Donatella Versace, she is an iconic and inspirational woman and a wonderful person, not to mention what a pleasure it was to work with Mario Testino too, one of the world’s finest photographers,” Dempsey said in a statement.

Said Versace of her new model: “I’m a big fan. So it was a great experience working with him because he is such a talented actor.”

The new ads start appearing in February!

Patrick Dempsey may be McDreamy on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” but in the future, he’d like to be Old MacDonald.

“I can be perfectly happy living in the country, having a little farm and working occasionally,” the 41-year-old actor tells the December issue of Best Life magazine, on newsstands Tuesday.

“If someone calls, I’ll go to work, but I am tired of going and putting myself through hell just to get into the room to be prepared, to be professional and to let go of any kind of anger or frustration and then not getting the part.”

Last May, Dempsey bought a farm in Maine, where he grew up. The purchase, he says, was a turning point: “It was like, you know what? I’m done. I now know what I want.”

Dempsey, who portrays Dr. Derek Shepherd on “Grey’s Anatomy,” says coming to terms with fame — and 14-hour shooting days — has been challenging.

“The show is like running a marathon. It feels like it never stops. The obligations you have for the show — it’s relentless,” he says. “The amount of exposure and the visibility … it was a big change for me.”

Dempsey co-stars with Amy Adams in Disney’s “Enchanted,” which opens Wednesday. He’ll next be seen in the romantic comedy “Made of Honor,” slated for release in May.

“There’s a core audience who’s watching `Grey’s Anatomy’ who expects something from you when they go to the box office, so you want to deliver that,” he says. “I’m going to wait to see what happens with these movies, and we’ll make choices after that. You can’t get too far ahead of yourself.”

Dempsey, who has three children with his wife, Jillian, says “family — and all of its joys and heartaches — is the grounding force.”

“It’s why you do everything,” he says. “It’s why you go to work, and why you put up with what you have to put up with, why you do what you have to do. Because you want a better life for them.”

ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT sat down with PATRICK DEMPSEY yesterday during promotion for his new film, “Enchanted.” Dempsey told ET that his ABC hit “Grey’s Anatomy” is not prepared for the pending Writers Guild of America strike, “We are not that far ahead. We have enough show to take us through Christmas, then we’ll see if that’s the end of the season.”

When asked if Hollywood is looking at a virtual shutdown, he said we could be, and expressed deep concern for crew members, “My concern is not so much for myself because I’ll be alright, but people that are living paycheck to paycheck are gonna be damaged profoundly and I think that’s a real tragedy.”
