Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe are Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Celebrities.
The “American Gangster” actor topped the new list compiled by Forbes magazine, who compared stars’ salaries to the gross income made by the film. While “Gladiator” cost $100 million to make, and made $460 million gross income, Russell’s recent films, which include “Cinderella Man” and “A Good Year,” have flopped at the box office – averaging $5 of gross income for each dollar he was paid. American Gangster” might help Russell’s bankability – it has already made $173 million worldwide, nearly double the $100 million it cost to make.
Nicole Kidman came second in the list after earning a reported $15 million for her most recent blockbuster “The Golden Compass” – which made only $26 million in its debut weekend in the US, compared to the $200 million it allegedly cost to make. These figures mean Nicole’s films return $8 on average to the studios, while Angelina Jolie – who is paid less than Nicole – grosses $15 on average.
Comedians Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell came in third and fourth positions.
Jim is taking a huge risk on his next film “Yes Man” – he is not being paid anything upfront and will only get paid if the film makes money.
“The Wedding Planner” actress Jennifer Lopez rounded off the top five. The mother-to-be is quickly becoming known for her box office flops, with her film “Gigli” not even taking as much as it cost to make.
Adam Sandler, Cameron Diaz, Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Tom Cruise also featured in the embarrassing list.
Forbes magazine’s Most Overpaid Celebrities:
1. Russell Crowe
2. Nicole Kidman
3. Jim Carrey
4. Will Ferrell
5. Jennifer Lopez
6. Adam Sandler
7. Cameron Diaz
8. Denzel Washington

On Marriage:
“They say the first year of marriage is the hardest. Please, God!”
On her husband Keith Urban:
“He’s the most important person in my life and I am for him and that’s where we’re at.”
On turning 40:
“It feels like it’s been a long haul to get here. I’m so fine with it. People want you to have some sort of breakdown, but I’m relieved to be 40 years old – and I’ve lived a life.”
On being misquoted about having a miscarriage:
“I had a miscarriage at the end of my marriage but I had an ectopic pregnancy at the beginning of it.”
On Botox:
“To be honest, I am completely natural – I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, I don’t smoke and I take care of myself, and I’m very proud to say that.”

Have you heard all the buzz about this movie? I don’t think it’s very appropriate to kids … read the synopsis I got from imdb.com:
It was no ordinary life for a young girl: living among scholars in the hallowed halls of Jordan College and tearing unsupervised through Oxford’s motley streets on mad quests for adventure. But Lyra’s greatest adventure would begin closer to home, the day she heard hushed talk of an extraordinary particle. Microscopic in size, the magical dust- found only in the vast Artic expanse of the North -was rumored to possess profound properties that could unite whole universes. But there were those who feared the particle and would stop at nothing to destroy it. Catapulted into the heart of a terrible struggle, Lyra was forced to seek aid from clans, gyptians, and formidable armored bears. And as she journeyed into unbelievable danger, she had not the faintest clue that she alone was destined to win, or to lose, this more-than-mortal battle
Apparently, it’s not about the “magical adventures” it claims it is- based on a fantasy trilogy written by Philip Pullman, “Dark Materials”- an avowed Atheist.
According to Variety, “It’s this undisguised anti-religious theme that has numerous groups in a lather, but perhaps more of an issue for some … will be the film’s lack of exciting uplift and the almost unrelievedly nasty treatment of the young characters by a host of aggressively unpleasant elders.”
Maybe you should leave the kids at home for this one … if you go to see it at all.
Has anyone heard anything else about this?

Think you know? Answer after the jump! (more…)

This is sad, is it not?
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman says Isabella, 14, and 12-year-old Connor – her two adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise – are reluctant to use the traditional parental moniker and instead call her Nicole, much to her annoyance.
She told UK TV show ‘GMTV’: “My kids don’t call me mommy, they don’t even call me mom. They call me Nicole, which I hate and tell them off for it.”
The ‘Golden Compass’ star recently revealed she is unhappy Isabella and Connor are being raised as Scientologists in Los Angeles.

That whole Scientology thing would bug me too! How frustrating would it be to get a divorce (which is bad enough) then have your ex turn around and raise your kids as Scientologists!

Finally a celebrity with a good head on her shoulders:
“Married life comes first and everything else comes second.” Actress Nicole Kidman prioritizes her relationship with husband Keith Urban over her movie endeavours.
