MTV’s College Life Premiering Monday April 13th at 10:30pm ET/PT‏

college_life_mtv.jpg

What do you get when you take away the producers, directors and camera operators? “College Life,” is a self-produced, groundbreaking new series following students as they embark on their freshman year of school in a way never before seen on television. Following a group of college kids at a Big Ten University in Madison, Wisconsin, the students will tell their own stories in an authentic and unprecedented way, as cameras are put in their hands. From hookups to breakups to academic pressure and homesickness, “College Life” delivers a new level of “real”-ity access starting April 13 at 10:30pm ET/PT on MTV.

“Technology has democratized the filmmaking process for our viewers. That fact combined with this generation’s real time publishing online of every aspect of their lives brings us into a new era of honesty and openness, and College Life exemplifies this,” said Tony DiSanto, head of MTV Programming. “College Life has turned the cameras over to the students themselves, allowing them to tell their own stories, show us their world, bare their emotions and take us on a dramatic journey through Freshman year as they see and experience it. It’s an entirely new and different viewing experience that we are very excited about.”

Engaging college students around the world, mtvU, MTV’s 24-hour college network, is set to launch a “College Life” contest, as part of the Best Film on Campus initiative beginning, in mid-April which challenges students to produce and submit their versions of their college Life. Finalists’ content will be showcased on collegelife.mtv.com and bestfilmoncampus.com, where fans will be able to vote for their favorite video. While several finalists will be chosen, only one winner will receive the hottest MTV gifts and prizes.

For 24/7 access, viewers will be able to see cast photos, watch full episodes and check out exclusive extended footage of each cast member on collegelife.mtv.com. On the go? Watch full episodes, sneak peeks and episode recaps on mobile video across all wireless carrier partners. And MTV Mobile WAP users can check photo galleries, cast bios, weekly episode guides and take weekly polls.

Lauren Conrad on her Future and Hills Cast Photo‏

thehillslaurenconrad_l2.jpg

EW.com has an exclusive look at the season 5 cast photo for MTV’s reality hit The Hills. Lauren Conrad will be saying goodbye to the show after this latest batch of episodes (premiering April 6 on MTV). “I actually thought last season was going to be my last,” the reality star tells EW. “[But] the producers wanted to hopefully give the show some sort of closure and needed one more season.” Look for Conrad to take a back seat in her final 10 episodes since, “I didn’t have that much conflict in my life over the last few months.” She adds, “I think I only cry in one episode.”

But the end of her time on The Hills doesn’t mean that the budding businesswoman is done with television. Conrad says that she’s in discussions to turn her upcoming young-adult book series — loosely based on her Hills experience — into a TV drama. “We’ve been taking a lot of meetings lately,” says Conrad, whose first novel, L.A. Candy, hits shelves in June. “I don’t know exactly where I want to go, but I’ve looked into producing because I’ve always found that so interesting.”

As for costar Audrina Patridge’s planned reality series of her own, Conrad admits, “To be honest, I really haven’t heard that much about it. She has a pretty interesting life. She’s a really cool girl. She’s fun to watch.”

I don’t like him.  He sounds like he’s talking with marbles in his mouth.  Just sayin.

MTV & Justin Timberlake Bring Viewers “The Phone” Premiering April 21st at 10pm ET/PT‏

MTV, FremantleMedia North America and executive producer Justin Timberlake are taking viewers on a relentless, heart pounding, adrenaline ride as “The Phone” premieres on April 21st at 10pm ET/PT. The innovative, six episode series is a genre-busting, one hour cinematic competition that simulates what it would be like for viewers to be dropped into the middle of a thrilling adventure movie.

“The Phone” is a groundbreaking game show whose blend of reality and cinematic action-adventure pulls its participants out of their everyday lives and thrusts them into a high-stakes labyrinth of engagement, suspense and intrigue as they race against time for a huge cash prize.

Each week, the lives of four unwitting strangers are interrupted and changed forever by a phone call where a mysterious voice invites them to participate in the game. If they choose yes by pressing “one” on their cell phones, the now new contestants begin to trigger dangerous events that propel them into their adventure and the chance to win up to $50,000.

The mysterious voice pairs the contestants up into two teams and instructs them to follow a movie-like drama that leads them through a series of mental and physical challenges from hanging off the edge of Seattle’s Space Needle to racing into a burning building to save a man’s life. The player’s loyalty, courage and morality are tested and their true nature is exposed when a surprise and shocking twist is revealed at the end of the game.

What do you guys think?
