Miley Cyrus is finally speaking out on controversial photos that show her using her fingers to make her eyes slant (that’s her, third from the left), which is considered degrading to Asian people.  She took to her website to apologize.

I’ve also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, I’m sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context!

In NO way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy? It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would of [sic] been anyone else, it would of been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new ‘BAD GIRL’!

I feel like now that Britney is back on top of her game again, they need someone to pick on! Lucky me! haha Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what is on my heart. You guys know me and have been by my side every step of the way!

You guys know my heart and know the most important things to me are my friends, family, fans, and GOD! In NO WAY do I want to disappoint any of you! But, when I have made mistakes in the past, I feel like I’ve owned up to them and apologized.

I really wish everyone would stop focusing on my personal life and get back to focusing on what I love! Music and Acting! Hopefully, I will be touring again this fall! Yayy! =] It will be a nice change to be back out on the road again!

This isn’t the first time Cyrus has been slammed for photos.

In April 2008, she was criticized by parenting groups after pictures surfaced of her posing in green bra. A few months later, she apologized after posing semi-nude in Vanity Fair.

Even teen pop sensations can get hand-me-downs.

After earning her learner’s permit on Wednesday, Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, who turned16 Nov. 23, received an early Christmas present: Her mom, Tish, handed over the keys to her Porsche Cayenne.

“Tish got a new car recently, so she’s giving Miley her old car,” a source tells PEOPLE. “She’s so excited. Her mom lets her drive to work when she’s with her.”

Earlier this year, Cyrus told PEOPLE that her dream sweet 16 birthday gift would be “a car, but we’ll see … I don’t want to name a certain kind. I want my parents to know that I’m happy with anything that they get me. I know I’d be really lucky to even get a car.”

It’s been a big week for Cyrus. Along with getting her first set of wheels, the singer also picked up her first Golden Globe nomination – for Best Original Song, “I Thought I Lost You,” from her movie Bolt.

The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast Jan. 11 from The Beverly Hilton at 8 p.m. on NBC.
