Most parents want their kids to twitter less, but not Billy Ray Cyrus. The country music star is urging daughter Miley Cyrus to return to Twitter. The 16-year-old pop star quit the microblogging site earlier this week, puzzling her fans. She had more than 1.1 million followers on the site.
Her father tweeted Thursday that Miley “can’t leave everyone now” and said “we r countin on u.”
Miley Cyrus’ account is no longer active. In one of her last posts, she wrote that Liam Hemsworth, her co-star in the upcoming film “The Last Song,” wanted her to delete her Twitter account “with good reason.”
Publicists for Cyrus and her father haven’t returned requests for comment.
Although Miley Cyrus was only, um, 5 when Sex and the City debuted on HBO back in 1998, the teen is apparently a big fan and has landed herself a guest-starring role in the upcoming movie sequel.
The 16-year-old Disney darling, who recently wrapped on the film The Last Song, is now confirmed to appear in the sure-to-be-a-hit flick.
Don’t look for Miley to take on a big role a la Jennifer Hudson’s personal assistant character in the first movie. She’ll instead be making a cameo as herself and will have a big showdown with Kim Cattrall’s Samantha when they show up wearing the same dress to an event (horror!), says a report.
So what if Miley Cyrus is only 16? She says she’s found her voice as a musician and it shows on her new EP, The Times of Our Lives. “I think I’ve been able to give myself more say. I think at first I was a little more afraid of what I could and what I could not say,” the singer and actress told the Associated Press prior to her performance at the VH1 Divas concert last night in NYC.
Not only has Miley grown as a musician, she says she’s grown as a woman as well.
“I think about it any time I write a song. I’m like, “Why can’t I say that? Why can’t you say what you feel?” asks Miley. “There shouldn’t be an age or a certain kind of cookie-cutter way of doing things. You can say what you want to. It’s about being an artist. That’s what an artist is.”
A judge overseeing the trial of Miley Cyrus’ alleged stalker has refused to reduce his $55,200 bond – because he considers him “a danger” to society.
Mark McLeod, 53, was arrested twice for hounding the Disney star on the set of her latest movie The Last Song.
He was taken into custody in August, just weeks after he was cautioned by cops in June for making “inappropriate comments” to young Cyrus fans. McLeod had also told officers he was engaged to the young star and that she sent him secret messages through her TV show, Hannah Montana.
In his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, investigators told Judge Steven Scheer that McLeod had told security personnel he would be returning to the set and “finishing things,” which he saw as a threat to Cyrus.
Judge Scheer agreed MCLeod was a threat to himself and others, telling the court, “I can’t deny him bond, but if I could I would because I do feel he’s a danger.”
He then refused to lower the bail amount, and decided there was enough evidence for the case to go to Chatham County State Court, Georgia.
The 16-year-old Hannah Montana star was granted a temporary restraining order against McLeod earlier this month.
Miley Cyrus has fueled speculation she’s dating Liam Hemsworth after she was spotted kissing the actor at an airport this week.
The Hannah Montana actress has repeatedly denied she is romancing the Australian star, her love interest in upcoming movie The Last Song, which has been shooting in Savannah, Georgia this summer.
But rumors about their relationship are heating up after the 16 year old was seen kissing Hemsworth after dropping him off at Nashville International Airport in Tennessee on Wednesday, reports the New York Daily News.
Miley Cyrus danced around a pole in a skimpy pair of shorts flanked by scantly-clad dancers during her performance of ‘Party in the USA’ at the Teen Choice Awards. Is this too much for a 16-year-old at a kid’s show? Pics & video below…
Miley, who turns 17 on November 23, seems to be making a concious effort to shed her young image. She showed up to the 11th annual Awards show in a super short mini skirt and tank top (scroll down for pics).
At the show she won six awards, comedy TV show and actress for “Hannah Montana;” music/dance movie actress and hissy fit for “Hannah Montana: The Movie;” music single for “The Climb” and summer song for “Before the Storm” with the Jonas Brothers. (Full list of TCA winners here)
She also presented Britney Spears, who wore a short black dress, with the Ultimate Choice Award saying “I’m a huge fans of hers.”
Last week a Georgia man was charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus after he returned to the set where she is filming a movie near Savannah weeks after police warned him to stay away.
