Six months after welcoming twins Moroccan and Monroe, Mariah Carey has lost 70 pounds (40 of it water weight, 30 with Jenny Craig) - and shows off her now size-6 body on the cover of US Weekly.

“I gained an enormous amount of weight,” the Grammy-winner superstar tells Us of welcoming her son and daughter April 30 with hubby Nick Cannon.

How’d she slim down? Beginning in July, Carey buckled down with a nutritionist and a workout plan from Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig), keeping to a 1,500-calorie-a-day menu and thrice-weekly workouts.

“I feel incredible,” the “Fly Like a Bird” singer tells Us, three months after her body transformation began. She and Cannon, 31, famously struggled to conceive their twins (born via C-section at 35 weeks) after a heartbreaking miscarriage.

“It was a huge blessing to be able to have the babies,” Carey says, “But I felt trapped in my body because I couldn’t move.”

Adds the once-again svelte star: “I’m proud of how hard I worked to get my body back…I had to do this for me.”

She went into more detail on Rosie O’Donnell’s show last night:

Speaking to Rosie, she explained of her fight back to form: ‘In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema … water and swelling. ‘Most pregnant woman have that just in their feet,’ she explained.

‘One day I was doing my thank-you notes and I noticed it started rising up the leg, so I had edema. … I didn’t think I would ever be the same person.’

After shedding some initial weight, Mariah started the strict Jenny diet plan, for which she is now a spokeswoman. She said: ‘The first week, I lost 40 lbs. … of just water. It was just water, initially. When I started with the programme, I lost at least 30 lbs of weight that needed to be lost. The whole point of this is not just like: “Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I’m fantastic.” It’s really health.’

She eats calorie controlled meals, including soups, and also did gentle exercise – walking her dogs and doing workouts in the ocean. And rather than weighing herself constantly, she would judge her progress based on how she fitted her clothes.

Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon debuted their twin babies on 20/20, Friday night during an interview with Barbara Walters.

Mariah opened up to Barbara about her difficult pregnancy, and how she does not want any more children. Here’s more from PEOPLE.

“I don’t think I understood the enormity or the magnitude of what it really does to your body,” she explained. “It’s not just, oh you don’t look pretty and you have a bump.”

But parenthood certainly seems to suit the couple. “My family gives me everything,” Cannon gushed.

“It’s just love,” Carey said. “It’s a beautiful place to be.”

While dad expects Moroccan and Monroe “to get a PhD,” Carey suggested that she wants them to follow in her footsteps. “They really respond to music,” she said, before singing to the babies in their Manhattan nursery.

Lullabies may come easy for Carey – who brought them into the world to the tune of her song “Fantasy” – but opening herself up to marriage again was a different story.

“I never believe that anybody really likes me,” she admitted after Cannon – who showed off his huge “Mariah” tattoo on his back – told her she’s been his crush from day one. “I always think it’s some kind of joke or something.”

While Carey doesn’t specifically address her music mogul ex-husband, Tommy Mottola, she does say that her failed marriage in 1998 made her hesitant to say “I do” a second time.

“Initially I was afraid of the concept of marriage [again],” she said. “But this is a different situation and a different time in my life.”

Now, Carey insists, “No one will steal my spirit.”

It’s only taken them six months, but now the world finally gets to meet the twins of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon.

During a sit down interview with Barbara Walters, Mariah and her hubby invited Barbara into their Manhattan home and introduced her to their new additions, Moroccan Scott and Monroe, born April 30.

The Grammy Award winner will also reveal her secrets on how she slimmed down and got back into shape after giving birth to twins. ”She’s so focused right now on every aspect. She’s going to come back and knock out the world,” tells her hubby, Nick Cannon. “She’s getting in shape.”

Nearly six months after their birth we’re finally getting our first look at Moroccan and Monroe – Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s twin son and daughter.

The proud new parents introduced their babies to Barbara Walters during a 20/20 interview at their lavish New York City apartment set to air this Friday (October 21).

Now, I know what you’re thinking, but diva behavior was not the cause.

The singer was supposed to make her way to Simon Cowell‘s home in France to be a guest coach on X-Factor, helping him in determining which of the top 32 girls would continue in the competition, but her flight was grounded due to Hurricane Irene back in August.

“The good news is I have chosen myself to be my head mentor,” Cowell told his disappointed charges. “It’s like having me twice.”

Meanwhile, the boys faced L.A. Reid and his mentor Rihanna in the Hamptons; the contestants over 30 traveled to Malibu, Calif., to perform for Nicole Scherzinger and Enrique Iglesias; and the groups joined Paula Abdul and Pharrell Williams at her home in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Half of the 32 remaining contestants – including standouts rapper Brian Bradley (a.k.a. The Astronomical Kid), wedding singer Elaine Gibbs, single mom Stacy Francis, rugby player Caitlin Koch, and 14-year-old Drew Ryniewicz – performed poolside for their respective judges, who will determine which four of their eight will continue on to the live shows. The emotional decisions will be made on Sunday’s episode of The X Factor.

Mariah Carey has an incredibly ability to sing five octaves – a talent few singers can match. A piano has seven octaves – and Mariah can sing five of them. Pretty impressive!

A cleverly spliced YouTube video shows off the singer scaling, in ascending order, the entirety of five octaves. That’s over 65 keys, for those who can do the math, or just make it through the ear-splitting, tea-kettle high notes at the video’s end. Mimi herself approves: she Google-plussed the clip on September 30th with the note, “I love my fans! Mwah!!!!”

I can’t tell if this is wishful thinking or just good ol’ fashioned support from a loving hubby, but Nick Cannon spoke on wife Mariah Carey shedding the baby weight, going as far as to say that she’s going to get back to the slim Mariah of 1990!

OK! spoke with Nick at the America’s Got Talent show last night about how difficult it has been for him working and balancing spending time with his babies.

“It’s the toughest thing in the world – leaving my family in general, not just my children, but my wife,” he said. “Knowing that she is there with them being mommy, I don’t want to miss any of those moments!”

For Nick, having the twins has been nothing but a blessing.

“There is no “worst” part at all. Everything is amazing about fatherhood. The best part is when they communicate with you and they recognize you. It’s the best.”

“She is getting [the weight] off. She is about to be 1990 again!”

We’ll see…oh, and in 1990, Nick Cannon was 10-years-old.
