Madonna is back in London for the UK premiere of her directorial debut ‘W.E.’.
Did she roll up on her Harley? or forget to take off her weight lifting gloves? I don’t get that piece of the outfit at all. I can’t give her too much grief about them, she looks great for 53!
In other Madonna news, she announced today that her new album will be called M.D.N.A. This will be her 12th studio album!

Madonna fans can rest easy. After it was announced earlier this month that Madonna would perform during the Super Bowl XLVI Halftime show, airing February 5 next year, speculation blew up about which songs from the Material Girl’s some 30-year career she would perform.
Well now website Madonnarama reports that “rehearsals for the Super Bowl performance have started this week” and that the pop legend is eyeing a set list that looks something like the cherry-picked songs copied and pasted below.

This just in – Madonna is teaming up with Cirque Du Soleil for the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show!
Madonna’s representatives confirmed the news after months of speculation. The pop icon will follow in the footsteps of stars like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Paul McCartney.
A statement reads, “We are happy to confirm that Madonna will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 5 … The Material Girl has partnered with a creative team from Cirque du Soleil, Jamie King, and multimedia artists from Moment Factory, to create a signature performance for the Super Bowl’s Halftime Show, which will be broadcast worldwide.”
Madonna previously agreed to play the Super Bowl in 2000 but was forced to pull out due to a scheduling conflict.
What do you think of this news? Will she put on a good show?

Madonna opened up to Harper’s Bazaar in the new December issue, which she covers with actress Andrea Riseborough:
“The fact that I didn’t have a mother helped me in some respect, and that I didn’t have a female role model. I was always very aware of sexual politics, growing up in a Catholic-Italian family in the Midwest, seeing that my brothers could do what they wanted but the girls were always told that they needed to dress a certain way, act a certain way. We were told to wear our skirts to our knees, turtlenecks, cover ourselves and not wear makeup, and not do anything that would draw attention.”
So of course, Madonna said, she did the exact opposite. “I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits,” she tells Bazaar. “I think my behavior and my lifestyle threaten a lot of social norms.”
Darn right — that’s why we love her. But Madonna also is a grown-up, as some often forget, with children to guide. Bazaar inquired into Madonna’s venture with her daughter, their Material Girl clothing line. Madonna noted:
“She loves fashion and style. She helps design the collection. I just stand in the background and watch. I proofread her blogs and edit them and give her a hard time when I think she’s being a lazy writer.”
See? Madonna has figured out how to challenge social norms and be a nagging mom all at the same time.

At the BFI London Film Festival premiere of her new movie last night, ‘W.E.’, Madonna was booed by fans. But, like the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson (whom the movie is about), Madonna also feels “misunderstood.”
The movie toggles “Julie & Julia”-style between the famous story of King Edward VIII’s abdication of the British throne for his American lover, Simpson, and a unhappily married New York woman, whose obsession with Simpson leads to her own scandalous affair.
The film’s controversy stems from claims of the royal pair’s sympathy for the Nazi cause, which the film dismisses.
As crowds booed the singer, she told Sky News, “I do know what it is like to be misunderstood on a global scale.” Madonna said she had made the film because she was so enraptured by the relationship of Simpson and the Duke of Windsor.
Clearly, her interest in the infamous lady is not purely academic.
“She lived at a time when women didn’t have the opportunities that they do now. She [Wallis] didn’t have the chance to defend herself so I’m taking that opportunity now.”
“W.E.” is scheduled to hit theaters Dec. 9.
I’m interested to see the film. It’s been getting mixed reviews, but I might have to give it a try!
