She may not be Broadway bound, but actress Kristin Chenoweth will still have a chance in the limelight as the next guest judge on “American Idol.”
The Tony award-winning actress is scheduled as the next celebrity to sit in as Paula Abdul’s temporary replacement on the hit Fox TV show, according to People.com. Chenoweth, who most recently received an Emmy nomination for her in ABC’s cancelled comedy “Pushing Daisies,” got her start on the Great White Way in shows like “Steel Pier” and “Strike Up the Band.”
The petite actress, who once compared her distinctive speaking voice to that of Betty Boop, brings plenty of vocal talent to the judges table. Chenoweth won a Tony award for the revival of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” and was part of the original Broadway cast of “Wicked.”
Chenoweth joins the regular judges, Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson, in Orlando for auditions later this week.

Kristin Chenoweth is set to make her gay fans happy by recording an album full of camp anthems.
The Wicked and West Wing star, who will be honored by gay education group The Point Foundation in Los Angeles next month, admits her make-up artist gave her the idea for a For The Gays album, and she thinks it would be a big hit.
The actress/singer tells Eonline.com the song list will include The Man That Got Away, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Barbra Streisand favourite Papa, Can You Hear Me? and Going to the Chapel in honor of California’s new same-sex marriage laws.
She says, “One of the make-up artists at (TV show) Pushing Daisies was like, ‘What’s your next album gonna be?’ And I said, ‘I dunno.’ He was like, ‘How about For the Gays?’ I was like, ‘Genius!’ That is going to be the title of my next album - For the Gays.”
