Kirstie Alley plans to return to the small screen in an unscripted docu-series for A&E — chronicling her continuing fight to lose weight while raising two teenagers alone.

With 10 episodes confirmed, the untitled reality show will run sometime in 2010, Variety reports.

“Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to,” an A&E executive told Variety. “Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she’ll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras.”

Alley’s last TV series was 2005′s Fat Actress, the half-improvised, half-scripted Showtime show in which she played herself.

The star of Cheers and Veronica’s Closet — and former Jenny Craig spokesperson — will reportedly launch a weight loss program as the cameras roll, Variety says. She will also, the article notes, be “producing a feature film, patenting multiple inventions, working hard to raise two normal Hollywood teenagers, taking care of eight ringtail lemurs and, on top of everything, looking for love.”

Married to actor Parker Stevenson from 1983 until 1997, Alley and her ex-husband have two adopted children: William, 17, and Lillie, 15. The California resident has a vacation home in Maine.

Alley lost 75 pounds as a Jenny Craig spokesperson, revealing her bikini body on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006. Earlier this year, however, she returned to Winfrey’s show to confess that she had ultimately gained 85 pounds — weighing in at above 200 pounds.

“It’s humiliating,” she told Winfrey. “The most painful thing for me is that I have all these people that I inspired and then I let them down.”

On Monday, Alley took to Twitter to announce yet another Oprah appearance: “I AM GOING to be on Oprah tomorrow..some fun news to announce,” she wrote.

And just look at how big Kirstie Alley has gotten. I hope she gets it together and comes out with an awesome weight loss regime that kicks everyone’s butts.

Valerie Bertinelli has told Kirstie Alley she would love to team up and help Kirstie overcome her difficulties with her weight. Kirstie recently admitted that she has been struggling with the weight she regained after being spokesperson for Jenny Craig and is jealous of Valerie’s weight loss. “It’s like the student surpassed the teacher, who is now over there in the corner, fat!” says Alley.

Valerie, though believes Kirstie is the reason she is where she is today saying that Kirstie is “a mentor and a motivator. She’s part of the reason I’ve come this far”

Valerie wants to offer Kirstie a friend is she needs it, and says “She should come work out with me! She should remember you can’t do everything in one day [and] her exercise has to be consistent. She can do this. There’s no doubt in my mind.”

Part of the problem: She says she had turned her home gym into a dining room.

“I thought, ‘You know what I need? You know what I haven’t had a lot of? I haven’t had a lot of dinner parties and company,’ ” she tells Winfrey.

Today, Alley vows, “I’m going to lose 80 pounds … I’m going to be in a bikini again.”

Her inspiration?

“We look around. We see what we want,” she says. “Don’t you look around and see what you want to look like? I’m, like, ‘Look, Michelle Obama’s guns. I could have those arms,’ ” she says. “I don’t know about the legs.”

Says Winfrey: “You’ve got to work for that.”

“I know,” Alley says. “I’m saying, I think I’m ready to work.”

Alley was a spokesmodel for Jenny Craig’s weight-loss program for three years before leaving in 2007 to launch her own weight-loss brand.

Contacted by Usmagazine.com, a Jenny Craig spokesperson said in a statement: “Jenny Craig maintains a friendly relationship with Kirstie, and we are proud of her accomplishments while she was on our program.

“Kirstie successfully lost 75 lbs and maintained that weight loss throughout our three year relationship, which came to an end in December 2007.

“We remain supportive of Kirstie, wish her nothing but the best and we would welcome her back at any time as a returning client,” the statement concluded.

Kirstie Alley has signed a deal with Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions to develop television projects — which could include her own daily show.

“Kirstie is a tremendous talent who is incredibly relatable and a true fan favorite,” said Tim Bennett, president of Harpo Productions.

The actress, 57, recently stepped away from her role as an official spokeswoman for Jenny Craig, and announced plans to launch her own weigh-loss brand.

Alley, who notably modeled a bikini The Oprah Winfrey Show after losing 75 lbs., said she hopes her willingness to be honest and open will come together to help her “offer something totally fresh for the television audience.”

Kirstie Alley may have parted ways with Jenny Craig after a three-year relationship, but the actress is not leaving the weight-loss field, she said.

In fact, Alley, 57, hopes to “develop and pilot my own weight-loss brand that I hope to launch in 2009,” she has announced in a statement.

Though she called her experience with Jenny Craig “extraordinary,” she says: “I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride.”

Scott Parker, VP of marketing for Jenny Craig, said Tuesday that “we are sorry that she did not accept our offer” to continue appearing in the company’s ad campaign, “but we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
