Now you’ll never go hungry Jon Stewart (at least while you’re at Arby’s).
The fast-food sandwich chain, which Stewart routinely (and mercilessly) mocked on The Daily Show, just created a sandwich in honor of the comedian. As announced in a melodramatic trailer, the Jewish-deli-inspired sandwich —The Daily Deli— will consist of double corned beef and deli mustard on marbled rye. And while that sounds good- it’s Arby’s, SO.
So now that Jon Stewart is leaving The Daily Show, he has time…for his new FARM! Yeah. It’s been reported that the longtime anchor and his wife Tracy McShane are planning on opening an animal farm for rescues!
The two just purchased a farm in New Jersey to provide a home for farm animals rescued from cruelty, and are joining forces with the Farm Sanctuary to make this adorable dream a reality.
And they already have a bunch to start this thing up! Along with their two children, the family owns four dogs, two pigs, two hamsters, three rabbits, two guinea pigs, one parrot, and two fish. All, of course, are rescues.
If you still want a look into the Stewart/McShane house, Tracy says that the norm for the kids are promising animal visits in exchange for getting homework done. Which is…the best thing I’ve ever heard.
“The joy of interacting with animals as friends instead of using them for human consumption is life-changing. A trip to Farm Sanctuary should be on everyone’s to-do list, but you can also bring a little bit of sanctuary home when you sponsor an animal through the Adopt a Farm Animal Program.”
On Tuesday night’s show, Stewart thanked the audience, “It’s been an honor and an absolute privilege, the honor of my professional life.” He called his years of hosting an “incredible opportunity,” but added, “it is time for someone else to have that opportunity.”
“This show doesn’t deserve an even slightly restless host, and either do you,” Stewart said. While he didn’t announce any specific plans for what he would do after leaving “The Daily Show,” Stewart said that he had “a lot of ideas in my head.” “I will have dinner on a school night with my family, who I have heard from multiple sources are lovely people,” Stewart joked.
Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless said in a statement:
“For the better part of the last two decades, I have had the incredible honor and privilege of working with Jon Stewart. His comedic brilliance is second to none. Jon has been at the heart of Comedy Central, championing and nurturing the best talent in the industry, in front of and behind the camera. Through his unique voice and vision, ‘The Daily Show’ has become a cultural touchstone for millions of fans and an unparalleled platform for political comedy that will endure for years to come. Jon will remain at the helm of ‘The Daily Show’ until later this year. He is a comic genius, generous with his time and talent, and will always be a part of the Comedy Central family.”
