Her eldest son, Kai Dugan is 10 years old.  His father was David Dugan, a photographer.  Her second son, 4 year old Stellan Bettany, is the son of fellow actor Paul Bettany (looks just like his daddy, doesn’t he!).  A little bit of trivia…Jennifer named her son Stellan after Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard (love him!).

I have a pair I’ve been dying to dig out!  Here is Jennifer Connelly whom I normally LOVE at the “Reservation Road” Gala Premiere at Toronto Film Festival – September 13.  I’m just going to believe she has bunyans or something and has to wear them.

Jennifer Connelly is desperate to adopt an African child – but fears it could unsettle her relationship with nine-year-old son Kai. The 36-year-old actress spent a lot of time at a Sierra Leone orphanage while shooting new movie Blood Diamond in the country and has discussed the idea of adopting a child with actor husband Paul Bettany.

But Connelly fears the move would take its toll on Kai, who has already had to deal with his mum’s separation from photographer dad David Dugan.

She explains, “We absolutely considered adopting. We have a son who went through a separation of his parents and then a new stepfather and a new sibling. He’s had a lot of change so of course I really have to be sensitive to him.

“One of the kids I became close to was older than him. What would that mean to my family? Would my son feel displaced, all of a sudden having an older sibling who didn’t speak the language and would need so much more time and attention?

“These are all concerns of mine and reasons why I didn’t come home with a child even though, believe me, I would call Paul at night when he was away. I’d say, ‘There’s this baby and I don’t know what to do and I love him so much and if I leave him here he might die.’ It’s complicated, but we are still considering.”

Jennifer Connelly fears she is overly critical of herself and is working hard to overcome her feelings of inadequacy. The star started modeling at age 10 and claims being judged at such an early age had a huge effect on her.

She explains, “Being watched and asked to perform all the time was difficult for someone with my perfectionist personality. I’m very hard on myself. I don’t want to disappoint myself or other people. I need to have a high standard all the time; I can’t mess up!”

The 36-year-old star admits that growing older and becoming a mother has helped her become more relaxed and accepting. She adds, “Now I can really see the patterns that live in me, the weird glitches in my wiring. I think I’m more comfortable now because I’m more in control of how my looks are presented.”
