Jennie Garth has confirmed she will return the new spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210 after months of speculation.
The star fuelled rumors she had agreed to star in the new show after she abruptly quit TV series My Best Friend’s Girl last month.
Garth was slated to star in the pilot for the comedy, but walked away from the project at the last minute, prompting producers to replace her with Kristin Booth.
She is the first original character to be signed to appear in the remake – although many former stars including Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering have both spoken out about their ambitions to star in the new venture.
Garth will make special guest appearances on the show as her former character Kelly Taylor and will play a guidance counsellor.

Could Jennie Garth be joining CW’s upcoming 90210 spin-off?
That’s the latest buzz swirling since Garth, 35, recently quit CBS’ upcoming comedy pilot My Best Friend’s Girl.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, she dropped out Monday after a table read.
The trade reports that it was “a mutual decision between her and the producers” as Garth was still coping with the death of her father, who passed away after she was cast. (Actress Kristin Booth — who once guest starred on Supernatural — will replace her.)
Garth — one of Us Weekly’s Weight Winners of the Year — may not have trouble finding work.
According the the Reporter, Rob Thomas, writer of the 90210 spin-off, has been looking to potentially recruit Garth to reprise her role as Kelly Taylor. She could play a fashion design teacher on the show.

I cannot believe she got booted! Marie Osmond should’ve gone before her. On a happier note, read this article from TV Guide I found about Jennie’s husband, actor Peter Facinelli. What a cute couple they are & what a sweet man!
Jennie Garth‘s husband, actor Peter Facinelli, wasn’t sure if Dancing with the Stars‘ cameras were still running. His wife had just been eliminated on Tuesday night and was crying, caught up in a group hug with the other semifinalists and pros in the middle of the dance floor. “I was waiting for the cameras to stop,” says Facinelli. “But then I said, ‘Aw, screw it,’ and I ran out there. Because I knew she needed me.”
The cameras had, in fact, gone to black. So what you didn’t see was that Facinelli broke through the circle of love, grabbed his wife and gave her the longest, most beautiful kiss. “I forgot that anybody was out there,” he says, just moments later. “It was like nobody was there except the two of us.”
“He’s my baby,” says Garth. Did she know he was going to engage in such a public display of affection? “No, but I knew he couldn’t sit there and endure it.”
Swoon.

Jennie Garth’s slimming down secret is not what you might think. “I eat a lot now,” the Dancing with the Stars contestant tells Us Weekly. “I love a late-night Dorito.”
The 35-year-old mom of three (Luca, 10, Lola, 4, and Fiona, 1) has found the alternative to dieting: “Rehearsing for six hours.”
Garth says, “When I decided to do [Dancing with the Stars], I did pilates three days a week and cardio twice. I hated it, but it helped. Once I started dancing, things changed faster than when I was just working out.”
Garth says she’s dropped 10 pounds since starting on the show, “but it’s more about the inches and toning. My jeans were a 29 when I started, and I’m wearing a 27 now,” she explains. “It’s great to be able to go to the back of my closet and get the clothes I wore [prebaby].”
Actor husband Peter Facinelli, 33, is enjoying the benefits of Garth’s dancing as well. “He said, ‘It’s like I got a new car!’” she says. “He can’t keep his hands off me. To the point that it’s like, enough!”
