At Sunday’s BET Awards, a somber-looking Janet Jackson thanked fans for their support following the death of her brother Michael Jackson.

“My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was just too painful so they elected me to speak with all of you,” she told the crowd at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

“I would just like to say that to you, Michael is an icon,” said Janet, who wore all white. “To us, Michael is family, and he will forever live in all of our hearts.”

“On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all your love; thank you for all your support,” she went on.

Then, with her voice trembling, she said, “We miss him so much.”

As she exited the stage, Jamie Foxx, Stevie Wonder and Ne-Yo performed the Jackson 5 hit “I’ll Be There” as images of the late King of Pop played on a screen in the background.

Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, also attended the awards show, which paid tribute to his late son’s life. He sat in the front row as countless musicians, from Beyonce to Lil Wayne, paid their respects.

Earlier in the night, Joe walked the red carpet.

“I wish the world had recognized him when he was living,” he told CNN when asked about his late son. “Right now, he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.”

Janet Jackson, who was scheduled to hit the stage in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday, has postponed the concert due to illness, her rep said in a statement on Tuesday.

Jackson’s stop in Philadelphia (October 2) will also be rescheduled while she recuperates.

The Rock Witchu Tour will resume in Greensboro, North Carolina on October 4.

The singer, 42, was due to perform in Montreal on Monday but canceled the gig after she “got suddenly ill” during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.

The singer was released from Montreal’s Royal Victoria Hospital after a two-hour stay on Monday night, a hospital spokesperson told Canada’s CBC News.

Jackson was also hospitalized in L.A. in March after a bout with the flu.

The singer “got suddenly ill during the sound check” before her concert in Montreal and had to be rushed to the hospital, according to a statement released by W&W Public Relations.

Jackson, 42, is being monitored at the hospital, and hopes to reschedule the show.

That may not be a product—yet—but the R&B diva is taking a page from Jennifer Lopez’s empire-expanding book and has announced plans to launch Pleasure Principle, her own line of lingerie, come November.

This way she’ll have no one to blame for a wardrobe malfunction but herself.

“People have come to me with other ideas, but lingerie is a passion for me, and just like music and acting, I can’t do it unless I put 100 percent into it,” Jackson said.

Jackson’s 14-design line of underpinnings, crafted mainly from satin and lace and heavy on feminine details, will be available in department stores and mass retailers this fall, with each piece priced at under $40.

“It makes you feel incredible and offers variety as diverse as the women who will wear it,” Jackson said of the line, named after her 1987 hit.

The line itself was made in conjunction with Australian lingerie designer Bruno Schiavi, the same man behind the launch of Dr. 90210 doc Robert Rey’s line, Dr. Rey’s Shapewear.

After making its U.S. debut this fall, the line will launch in Australia, Japan and Europe, with the Jackson-Schiavi team looking ahead to more collaborations in the future.

Along with its focus on prettiness, however, the Pleasure Principle line has also taken some pains to ensure comfort.

“There’s something for every woman, and that’s very important to us,” Jackson said. “I’ve always hated when lingerie is uncomfortable, so the fit and comfort was key.”

In other words, those holding out for her line of nipple shields may have to wait for phase two.
