James Van Der Beek and his wife, actress Heather McComb, have separated, his rep confirms to Usmagazine.com exclusively.
“They remain good friends,” his rep tells Us.
The two split two months ago, adds a source.
Van Der Beek, 32, and McComb, 32, wed in Malibu in July 2003 — two months after he ended his six-year run on the popular teen drama Dawson’s Creek.
McComb (who has appeared on Fox’s Party of Five) donned a Vera Wang gown in the outdoor ceremony — officiated by Van Der Beek’s uncle — as former costars Michelle Williams and Busy Philips looked on.

ET has learned that JAMES VAN DER BEEK will guest star on an October episode of “Ugly Betty.”
The former “Dawson’s Creek” star will play one of Mode magazine’s top advertisers who pressures Daniel Meade (ERIC MABIUS) to fire his transsexual sister, Alexis (REBECCA ROMIJN), because he doesn’t want to do business with her.
No word yet on whether or not Van Der Beek will have any scenes with Betty (AMERICA FERRERA).

Former Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek is to return to the football field to play a pro-athlete in the upcoming US adaptation of British TV drama Footballer’s Wives. It’s not the first time the actor has suited up to play an American footballer – Van Der Beek played a high school quarterback in Varsity Blues.
