NBC executives are desperately working to get Spencer Pratt back on I’m A Celebrity…Get me Out of Here!, an insider tells Life & Style exclusively. “The producers know everyone is watching the show to see what chaos Spencer is causing, so they are doing everything they can to work it out” after he and wife Heidi Pratt departed the show when she had to be rushed to the hospital. Heidi is out of the hospital, but is still too weak to return. “Spencer likes the idea now that he knows Heidi is okay.”

Producers want Spencer back to boost ratings and force him to face a former enemy — Heidi’s older sister, Holly Montag.

Life & Style can reveal that the only stumbling block is Spencer’s contract, which is around 100 pages long, the insider says. “NBC lawyers are vetting his contract to see if it is possible to allow him back into the jungle again — and that it doesn’t go against the rules of the game.”

Spencer’s return could make interesting viewing by pitting him against Holly. Spencer was recently seen on The Hills reducing Holly to tears after confronting her for throwing food at Spencer and Heidi’s wedding rehearsal dinner.

Were Spencer and Heidi Pratt deprived of food and water for almost three days while being forced to live in blacked-out seclusion on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here?

That’s what their family is claiming. A show insider, on the other hand, says all reports that the pair were mistreated have been greatly exaggerated.

“They kept them locked up and through the roof they were dropping spiders the size of [Heidi's] hands in on her in the black,” Spencer’s sister, Stephanie, just told me at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation’s A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival in L.A.

“They treated them like they were criminals or terrorists,” she added.

Stephanie said Heidi, who was reportedly rushed to a local Costa Rica hospital yesterday, was transferred to another medical facility today. She said she wasn’t sure what the final diagnosis was. But it sure doesn’t sound pretty…

“She was throwing up 30 times with nothing in her stomach,” Stephanie said. “She was really sick. She thought she was dying….I know they pulled such shitty antics,” she said. “But being treated like criminals or terrorists? It’s insane!”

The newlyweds will likely return home sometime this week, according to Stephanie.

A rep for NBC declined to comment, but ITV Studios, producers of I’m a Celebrity, deny any wrongdoing. (more…)

Whether by choice or by act of God, Speidi keeps getting out of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Heidi Pratt was hospitalized today in Costa Rica during her and Spencer‘s stay in “isolation” from the rest of the cast of the NBC reality series. Spencer accompanied his wife on the ambulance ride and remains by her bedside.

Various reports said she was suffering from a stomach infection, but there was no immediate comment from either NBC or Spedi’s rep.

The news was broken by Spencer’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, who tweeted that “[Heidi was] rushed to the hospital and has an IV in her arm after being locked in a dark room for 3 days w no food or water. Pls pray she will be ok…Her family is flying out to see her in the hospital.”

The younger Pratt blames NBC for going “too far” in punishing the Hills couple after they tried to quit the bug-eating, jungle-surviving show after just one episode and then begged to return.

Last week, NBC exec Paul Telegdy said the “insincere, lazy, entitled” Pratts had to endure a stint in “isolation” before producers would decide the twosome’s fate on Monday’s show, vowing that the Pratts “really are going to bare their souls.”

How would I‘m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! possibly survive with “supercelebrities” Spencer and Heidi Pratt banished and, for the most part, off-camera?

Pretty well, actually.

For the first time all week, in fact, the reality show’s audience got bigger from one night to the next, scoring 5.2 million viewers for Speidi-free Thursday, per preliminary Nielsen estimates, up from Speidi-focused Wednesday’s 4.8 million.

I’m a Celebrity… goes away now until Monday. NBC says we need to tune in then to see if the Pratts go away for good.

Maybe if the network gets some more Nielsen encouragement, we can all be happy.

After a number of conflicting reports surfaced in the media, it’s official that media darlings Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are returning to the jungle to complete their run on NBC’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

The duo had already tried to quit the NBC reality show twice, and went as far as planting decoys at LAX to give the illusion that the couple had returned home.

Their childish antics will not go without consequences according to NBC’s Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming Paul Telegdy. In an exclusive statement to Ryan Seacrest, Telegdy explained how Speidi will be dealt with back in the jungle:

“They are everything that’s wrong with America…they are insincere, lazy, entitled and they claim the devil has possessed them.

They are back and this time they are contrite…yeah right. What they don’t realise is that they are now going to be examined and their value system utterly deconstructed.

They are going to spend the night somewhere in isolation and guarded with lots of surprises…but not traditional reality [stunts].

These people really are going to bare their souls.”

Heidi and Spencer Pratt begged for forgiveness on last night’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

After quitting and then changing their minds (as NBC first exclusively confirmed to Usmagazine.com), the duo made a hilarious mea culpa from the jungle live.

“We realized that we made a big mistake and that the devil got to us and said, ‘Get out of the jungle,” Heidi explained of their decision to leave. “[But] it’s not even about us. It’s about the charity, and it’s about the experience here, and we really took that for granted.”

Added Spencer: “It took us getting out of the situation to realize that we had lost our mind.

“We’re pleading insanity!” chimed in Heidi.

“They should have brought a straight jacket, night one, on me,” Spencer continued. “I should have been in the white room…I lost my mind. I love all those people and I think they’re amazing and I cannot wait to learn from their experience because they all have unique backgrounds. I looked at the whole experience selfishly. I’m here for good. I don’t even know if I’m ever going home back home!

(A different attitude than Spencer’s “I’m the only celebrity here!” outburst from Tuesday night’s show.)

The couple’s objective: “We want to thank America, and try to win back everyone. We want to win for our charities. And we miss everyone,” Heidi said.

The episode ended with the group voting on whether the Pratts could return.

“Oh please, Jesus, please let them take us back!” Heidi said with her hands folded, as the host announced their punishment: a night in the dark chamber — with rats and spiders.

Heidi and Spencer Pratt are remaining on NBC reality show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! after all, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

“Heidi and Spencer are still in the jungle and part of the show,” their rep told Us Wednesday morning. Us can also exclusively report that Spencer’s sister Stephanie and his friend Spenser (yes, there’s another one, only spelled with an ‘s’) were the people under the blankets at L.A.’s LAX airport Tuesday night. They were simply used as decoy to throw people off and give the illusion that Spencer and Heidi had returned to L.A., says a source.

Spencer and Heidi had already tried to quit the show at least twice — and then un-quit. They strongly suggested on Tuesday’s show, however, that they were leaving for good. “Super-celebrities don’t belong in the jungle. They belong in Hollywood with the paparazzi,” Spencer said. “We’re gonna miss you guys,” Heidi told the other contestants, who include Lou Diamond Phillips, Janice Dickinson and former Illinois first lady Patti Blagojevich. “But call us when you get back to L.A.”
