Singer-songwriter Seal makes his first television appearance since the announcement of the separation from wife, Heidi Klum on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday, January 24th. Ellen talks with Seal about the separation and why he is still wearing his wedding ring.
On his split from Heidi Klum:
ELLEN:
I think it’s a very very hard thing to be in a relationship and working on a relationship and have a family and have kids and have two huge careers and a lot going on, and to be in the public eye. I think a lot of people have seen many pictures of you and Heidi. I think it was surprise to a lot of people. That’s got to be a hard thing when people don’t really know and I think people were just shocked.
SEAL:
I think so too and you can include us in that. I think we were shocked. You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say “I do” and you say “’til death do us part.” Those vows hold value. They are not just words. These things happen. We pretty much said how we feel and made it clear in the release statement. But, for intensive purposes of this show, you just grow apart after awhile. You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent you do the best that you can. It makes you actually appreciate your parents a lot more. The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman who married (and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart), is that together she has given me four incredible gifts…four beautiful children. She still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other. It’s not a question of we were never to follow suit of some break-up or separations that you hear about, especially in our industry. It’s a shame. To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie (and I don’t mind telling you that). I think the operative here is that we are civil to each other and we both have a tremendous amount of respect and love and we try and do this with as much dignity as we possibly can. And of course, when you have four children, you hope and pray that the rest of the world will respect that we have four children and that their little hearts are at stake too.
Seal on wearing his wedding ring…
ELLEN:
That must be hard for them. I still notice you’re still wearing your ring. (Is that, it’s an interesting) It’s a beautiful ring…
SEAL:
Yes, I am still wearing my ring. I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Eight wonderful years together. Just because we have decided to separate doesn’t necessarily mean you take off your ring and you’re no longer connected to that person. We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives…. though our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other. Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives? Who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon.
I want them to work it out and stay together! I hate the thought of them splitting. When some people split – it comes as no surprise. (Like if Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradisactually split – I probably won’t think much of it.) But Heidi and Seal? It shouldn’t be happening I tell ya!
PS: I think it’s very commendable that Seal honored his commitment and still went on the Ellen Show. He was scheduled to appear before Heidi announced the split, and it would have been very easy for him to bail. But he didn’t!
We got word over the weekend that Heidi Klum and Seal were ending their 9 year marriage and many of you (like moi) found it so hard to believe that they were splitting! They’ve long been one of my favorite celebrity couples. They always look and seem so happy and in love. They have a beautiful family, and Seal adopted Heidi’s daughter from a previous relationship. PEOPLE confirmed the news with a statement from Heidi’s rep: “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart.”
So what happened? According to TMZ, Heidi has had all she can take of Seal’s “volcanic temper”. The decision to leave had absolutely nothing to do with infidelity, there was no cheating involved. Seal’s “inability to control his anger has become to much for Heidi to take, in no small part because it’s affecting their children.”
TMZ was the first to report the news of the split, and according to sources this decision was “a long time coming.”
Also playing a factor in the split is their differing careers. She has become a “mega-entrepreneur” and extremely wealthy, and their professional differences caused a split between them.
According to TMZ, the couple have been living together still, but that’s all about to change.
I hope that Seal just takes this as a wake up call and gets the anger management help he needs (if that’s really what’s going on) and they get back together!!
This sad news just in…Heidi Klum will is reportedly filing for divorce from Seal … according to TMZ.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Heidi will file divorce papers in L.A. County Superior Court as early as next week. We’re told Heidi will cite “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the divorce.
The couple married May 10, 2005. They have 3 biological kids. Seal adopted Heidi’s eldest girl from a prior relationship.
The couple is famous for renewing their vows every year on their anniversary … in a lavish ceremony.
As for splitting up the goodies, there’s a lot on the line. According to Forbes, in the last year alone, Klum raked in $20 million. It’s unclear how much Seal made.
Heidi attended last Sunday’s Golden Globes without Seal. The last photo she tweeted with him was back on December 26.
I am so sad about this news! Probably more so than just about any other celeb split lately. I don’t know why – maybe it’s because they always seem like they’re so in love! They’re always so cute and happy together! It seemed like they really truly had so much love for each other. Makes me so sad!
I mean c’mon – watch the music video below! It is sad!
The red carpet fashion at last night’s Golden Globes was pretty tame, much like the broadcast itself. Lea Michele’s gown was about the riskiest thing there! Even Tilda Swinton, who usually brings the funk, played it safe with her wardrobe and hair.
There are a TON of photos, so I’ll break it up into a few posts for you! Check out the gallery and share your thoughts! Some of the gallery shots: Kate Beckinsale, Kate Winslet, Heidi Klum, Michelle Williams, Calista Flockhart, Sofia Vergara, Zooey Deschanel, George Clooney, Julie Bowen, Rooney Mara, and more.
How many of you watched ‘Project Runway: Allstars’ the other night? Were you as shocked as I was to see NO Heidi Klum – and NO Tim Gunn!? I’ll be honest, I was so upset about it – I actually stopped watching it – and haven’t been back to see the full episode yet. I don’t know if I have it in me to watch the show without my favorite hosts! In all fairness, I wasn’t a fan of ‘Top Chef Masters’ when it first premiered for the very same reason, but I’ve grown to love it. So I know I WILL give Allstars a fair shot, it might just come after I’ve watched everything else in my DVR first.
So why didn’t Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn sign on for Allstars? According to Tim, it was because they’re currently filming season 9 of Project Runway – and they couldn’t be in two places at once!
There was no making it work when it came to Tim Gunn participating in “Project Runway All-Stars.”
The high priest of style was at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena Monday, promoting his new ABC daytime talk show, “Revolution,” with Ty Pennington and a cast of make-yourself-better experts. (“Revolution” replaces long-running soap “One Life to Live” at 1 p.m. PT and 2 p.m. ET Jan. 16.)
He told a small group of reporters gathered after the panel that he simply could not mentor the “All Stars” because it overlapped with the taping of “Project Runway” season nine.
“Someone thought that ‘All Stars’ and season nine could be taped together and we all could run back and forth,” Gunn said. “To me the workroom and the designers is like a fashion emergency room. (Trying to do both) was just loony cajuney.”
Gunn said he gives “150 percent” on the show, and felt both shows would suffer if he attempted to spread himself between them. His first allegiance, of course, is to the mother ship.
“I’m a lucky guy and I readily recognize how much I have on my plate. I won’t trivialize (what it takes) to do this show,” Gunn said. “I can’t multitask. I don’t even have an iPhone or Blackberry on the set. I have to focus.” Continue Reading
I’ll forgive him… I guess. Now – about Heidi’s pants. Yikes!
