As the world reeled after hearing of Heath Ledger’s untimely death, his family awoke to the news that their beloved son was gone.

Standing outside the family home in Perth, Australia, Heath’s father, Kim, spoke about his son’s death. It was “tragic, untimely, and accidental,” the grieving dad said, squashing speculation that the 28-year-old had committed suicide: “He was not that kind of person.”

He described his son as “down to earth, generous, kind hearted, life loving, unselfish individual extremely inspirational to many. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life.”

Heath’s parents, Kim and Sally, and his older sister, Kate, had last seen the star over the holidays, when he spent a few weeks in Perth relaxing on the beach and hanging out with friends.

Heath’s former fiancee, Michelle Williams, was en route from Sweden to New York with their daughter, Matilda, 2, when the tragic news broke. Michelle’s father, Larry, however, shared his thoughts on Heath’s passing with Australia’s Daily Telegraph.

“It has broken everybody’s heart in my family,” Larry Williams said. “My heart goes out to everyone, his family, my family, we are just very saddened.”

He said that the worst part was the fact that Heath’s daughter, Matilda, would grow up without knowing her father.

“The saddest thing is his daughter whom he just loved dearly.”

This is believed to be one of the last pictures taken of Heath Ledger. It was taken Saturday night on the set of his new film,  “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” in London.

She’s only been single a handful of days and already reports have emerged which claim Lindsay Lohan has jumped back on the dating wagon.

According to Australia’s New Weekly magazine LiLo – who split from her snowboarder boyfriend Riley Giles last week – is dating actor Heath Ledger.

The publication clams that the Mean Girls star enjoyed a number of late-night sex sessions with the Australian actor after meeting him at New York’s Beatrice Inn over Thanksgiving weekend.

“Lindsay and Heath hit it off straight away” claims a source “When she left the club she started texting him straight away and they hooked up a few times while she was still in New York. They were meeting late at night for sex. It was purely physical.”

Lohan travelled to New York with Riley – who she met at Utah’s Cirque rehab clinic in August – but speculation mounted that there was trouble in paradise after the pair were snapped partying separately.

As reported by Entertainmentwise yesterday, the 21-year-old actress ended her brief relationship with the 25-year-old in order to concentrate on revamping her career.

Meanwhile Ledger – who split from his girlfriend Michelle Williams, with who he has a two-year-old daughter, Matilda – has been linked to a bevy of beauties which include supermodel Helena Christensen.

The Brokeback Mountain star has also been spotted on the New York party circuit flirting and “making out” with a string of women.

Since his split from Brooklyn baby mama Michelle Williams, Ledger has been linked to Helena Christensen and Kate Hudson – but over Thanksgiving, he added Heather Graham and Gemma Ward to his growing list of targets. “He’s following Gemma around everywhere,” a Page Six spy said. “He somehow finds out where she is going to be and then miraculously shows up to the parties or bars where she is.”

But Ward, said our source, “is definitely not interested.” On Thanksgiving, spies at Gonzales y Gonzales restaurant saw Ledger, who was “dressed like a homeless guy,” make “a beeline for Graham.” The source said Ledger began to “flirt heavily” with her – and although Graham’s been dating Star Room owner Charles Ferri, she happily chatted with him. “He ignored everyone except Heather and then told her, ‘We should hang out sometime.’ She agreed, they exchanged numbers, but then he just bolted,” our source said. “He was basically only there to pick up a chick.” A rep for Ledger did not return our calls and e-mails.
