Emmy Rossum has revealed to USA Today that she and Adam Duritz broke up quietly two months ago.

“We’re still very close friends,” she told the paper.

Emmy started dating the Counting Crows frontman last fall, just as her ex-husband, music executive Justin Siegel, filed for divorce after a year and a half of marriage.

Earlier this year, Emmy explained Adam’s appeal to People.

“I get why chicks dig him,” she said. “He’s extremely kind, incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, creative and respectful.”

Adam has dated a slew of beautiful actresses, including Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox.

Two months after it was discovered that Emmy Rossum had been secretly married, her husband is filing for divorce.

Justin Siegel, a music producer, filed papers on Friday at L.A.’s County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

According to the documents, which were first reported by TMZ.com, the couple had been married for less than two years and wed in February 2008. (Siegel is seeking spousal support and requests that Rossum pay all divorce costs.)

The couple began dating in 2007 but never announced plans to wed, instead opting for a confidential marriage license. It wasn’t until August, when the pair split, that their secret marriage was reported.

“They’ve been in a very tumultuous relationship,” an insider close to the couple tells Life & Style. “They lived together for more than two years.”

The intensity of the relationship may be to blame for its downfall: “It was close to marriage,” the insider says. “And I don’t think she wanted to be tied down this early in her career, and though she’d never say that – that’s the reason for the split.”

Even if Emmy wasn’t ready for marriage, the break up is still devastating to her, says the insider, “Emmy’s really sad right now, it caught her by surprise.”
