After news broke today that Ellen Pompeo is expecting her first child with husband Chris Ivery, the “Grey’s Anatomy” actress happily showed off her little baby bump in a long flowing dress outside of a West Hollywood, CA Whole Foods today. The petite actress couldn’t have appeared more ecstatic, and seems to be happily embracing her new found curves!

“It’s great news,” says Allen. “They’re ecstatic.”

The Grey’s Anatomy star, 39, and Ivery, 41, a music producer, were married by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a low-key ceremony in November 2007. The couple met in a grocery store in 2003 and began dating six months later.

Pompeo, who’s recently been spotted shopping for baby gear around Los Angeles, is not the only Seattle Grace doctor having a baby in real life: Costar Chyler Leigh and her husband, Nathan West, are expecting her third child, a girl, in May.

The actress wore a black Yves Saint Laurent dress and boots as she married record producer Christopher Ivery last year. And the star admits she snubbed the traditional white gown and veil because she always wears stunning dresses for work.

She tells Allure magazine, “I get to dress up all the time. I completely understand women wanting a wedding, because most people don’t get to dress up in gorgeous dresses and have their hair and make-up done. I, however, am fortunate enough that I get to put on beautiful dresses and make-up and jewels all the time.”

The actress, 38, – who plays Meredith Grey in the popular TV show – was surprised it became a hit.

She tells Allure magazine, “I never watched one episode of ER. When I did the pilot, I thought, ‘I can’t stand medical shows. This will never get on.’”
