Portia de Rossi, 37, is well known for her former role on Allie McBeal and as the beautiful wife to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, but on Monday’s Oprah Winfrey Show, Portia reveals she once had an eating disorder.

At one time star claims to have only consumed 300 calories a day. A healthy diet probably requires at least 1200 1500 calories a day for a female. Rossi speaks out about her struggles in her new book, Unbearable Lightness.

Rossi tells Oprah that her lowest weight was 82 pounds.

“It wasn’t that I was proud of it,” de Rossi clarifies. “But it was certainly a recognition for my self-control. I definitely had some pretty amazing willpower to get down to 82 pounds. And that’s what I was holding onto to. I didn’t think about anything else.”

Her life is much happier these days with wife Ellen DeGeneres. De Rossi recently took DeGeneres’ last name legally (she’ll keep de Rossi professionally).

“I love her and I am very proud to be her wife,” she explained of the name change. “I made up my name,” adds the star, whose given name is Amanda Lee Rogers. “Because I thought it was important to be independent of my family and …be an individual…as I have gotten older, I’ve realized the importance of belonging, and I really wanted to be a part of Ellen’s family…By taking her name, [it] makes me feel like I have a family.”

Women everywhere feel a pressure to be thin. It’s not worth risking you health. It is good to hear a celebrity speaking out about it.

So maybe they are dating and maybe they aren’t.

Taylor Swift wasn’t denying or confirming anything about her alleged relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

The singer sits down with Ellen DeGeneres on Friday’s show and gives some evasive answers about her dating life.

When host Ellen DeGeneres asked the singer, 20, how she feels “about love right now,” Swift replied, “I’m always optimistic about love…always, sometimes.”

“But right now you are [optimistic]?” DeGeneres asked.

“Well, why wouldn’t anyone be?” Swift answered.

“Especially if your boyfriend is Jake Gyllenhaal, because he is very handsome,” DeGeneres teased. “Y’all are just hanging out though right?”

“You have a picture of us on the screen, don’t you?” Swift retorted.

Swift and Gyllenaal, who is nearly a decade older at 29, were spotted Saturday touring the fall foliage and apple picking in Hopewell Junction, N.Y. “They looked happy,” a witness said. The duo later attended an SNL taping and Sunday brunch in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood.

During her Ellen appearance, Swift also talked about “Dear John,” an angry ballad from her new album Speak Now, that seems to be about rumored fling John Mayer.

Swift told DeGeneres the track “could be” a “Dear John” about Mayer. “That song kind of is what it is,” she quipped.

“OK, great,” DeGeneres chirped. “We know the answer now. It’s about him [John Mayer]. You didn’t dispute it so obviously…”

Taylor, Taylor, Taylor, John Mayer? What were you thinking?

He must be a real smooth talker to get all these beautiful actresses/singers because he really seems like a douche.

At least her taste has improved. Jake Gyllenhaal is a cutie!

Today Portia de Rossi is officially Portia DeGeneres. Portia took her wife, Ellen DeGeneres‘ last name. Her legal name is Portia Lee James DeGeneres. (James?)

The couple were married in 2008 during the 5-month window in which gay marriage was legal in California.

Ellen DeGeneres struts her stuff on the runway at the 2010 New York Fashion Week show. She poses with Designer Richie Rich who is best known for his quirky, sexy, and crazy styles.

According to TMZ, Portia De Rossi, 37, filed a petition at L.A. Superior Court on Friday to change her last name to match her wife of two years, Ellen DeGeneres.

“Petitioner is taking the last name of her spouse,” says the official document.

The two said “I Do” in front of just 30 guests at their Beverly Hills estate on Aug. 16, 2008. Both wore Zac Posen (de Rossi opted for a princess gown, De Generes, 52, wore an all-white suit) and exchanged rings designed by Neil Lane.
