Diane Keaton Talks About Why She Never Got Married

Diane Keaton has really accomplished a lot in her life, but one thing she never managed to do was tie the knot. Now, she is opening up about that decision!

From People Magazine:

She’s won an Oscar, starred in countless hit films and dated plenty of A-listers. But one thing Diane Keaton says she has “failed at” is settling down and tying the knot.

“It’s not the worst tragedy. But I really wish I had bought myself a man! A good man who would be a great father, I really do. I think it’s a better way to go,” the actress, 68, tells PEOPLE.

So what stopped her? “I think I was not practical,” says the mother of two (daughter Dexter is 18, while son Duke is 13). “I had some insane idea that I had to be ‘in love.’ Now I see what it really takes: real consideration that you’re a good team together.”

The man she most wanted to make things work with was her Godfather costar and boyfriend of five years Al Pacino. “But he was even less inclined to be realistic than me. And I was on the cusp of being very old. So that poor guy. I don’t think he was really that interested. And I don’t think a long-term happy marriage would be easy for him.”

Keaton – whose second memoir, Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty, hits shelves Tuesday – hasn’t ruled out finding another relationship. “But I can’t imagine it,” she says. “You have to put yourself out there, and that’s really hard for me. Always was.”

You don’t necessarily have to get married to be happy with someone, Diane. Just a thought. What do you think of her ideas of marriage?

Katie Holmes’ Mad Money is a flop!

Mad Money

Moviegoers didn’t flock to see Katie Holmes’ return to the big screen this weekend.

Her comedy Mad Money, co-starring Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton, came in at No. 7 with $7.7 million, according to studio estimates released Sunday.

Cloverfield, the sci-fi monster flick, was the box office champ with $41 million.

No. 2: Katherine Heigl’s romantic comedy 27 Dresses, with $22.4 million. (See her in a bridesmaid dress here.)

The Jack Nicholson comedy The Bucket List ranked No. 3 with $15.2 million, while the indie comedy Juno (starring Ellen Page, who just signed on for Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut) came in at No. 4 with $10.3 million.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets was No. 5 with $8.1 million; First Sunday, No. 6, with $7.8 million.

Critics had slammed Holmes for her role. The New York Times called her “the movie’s weakest link.”
