Dane Cook has yet to master the art of onscreen lovemaking – because the steamy shoots remind him of his years as an awkward teenager.
Cook has co-starred in a string of bedroom scenes alongside Hollywood beauties including Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, but the funnyman admits he reverts to a fumbling teen as soon as the cameras start rolling.
He says, “I’m much more introverted and shy, contrary to popular belief… You tend to go back to how you felt when you were in high school. Even though you’re professional actors, you come to those scenes wondering things like: Are you going to be mad if I kiss you? Do I put my hands on the small of your back or can I go lower? Is that too low? Can you draw a map of where I can touch you?”
Comedian Dane Cook says his new film with Kate Hudson, My Best Friend’s Girl, is the “best/funniest film I’ve done yet.” But he’s hardly crazy about the film’s poster – and he’s taking his gripe public.
“Although I’m not a marketing major, I have a bit of a trusted reputation after 18 years self promoting,” he writes on his MySpace blog. “I’d like to inform you I had no say in this marketing campaign, but if I did, things would be different since it is obvious that this poster is boring/odd.”
Cook, 36, rattles off a list of 10 different things “that truly blow” about the poster – and he doesn’t hold back. The funny, often raunchy list includes problems with the characters’ stares, the set, his lips, head, skin and hair.
“It looks like I’m wearing Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds Liquid Lipstick,” he jokes in item No. 4. “My character’s name is now Winter Solstice and I’m a hooker with a heart of gold.”
Lionsgate, which will release My Best Friend’s Girl on Sept. 19, did not return calls for comment.
Kate Hudson’s next movie will be “Bachelor No. 2″ for Lionsgate, starring opposite Dane Cook.
Director Howard Deutch is set to begin lensing in August. Pic will be shot in Boston.
Management 360 and Terra Firma are producing. Cook’s Superfinger Entertainment also is producing.
From a script by Jordan B. Cahan, storyline revolves around a man who is hired by men who have been dumped to take their ex-girlfriends out on nightmare dates, thereby convincing the women to return to their boyfriends. But trouble arises when Cook’s character is hired to take out the ex-girlfriend of his best pal.
Producers are Guymon Casady, Doug Johnson, Adam Herz, Greg Lessans, Josh Shader, Barry Katz and Brian Volk-Weiss.
Hudson (“You, Me & Dupree,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” ) will next be seen in theaters opposite Matthew McConaughey in romantic action-adventure “Fool’s Gold.” Warners releases the film Feb. 8.
“Bachelor” marks Cook’s third Lionsgate pic after “Employee of the Month” and “Good Luck Chuck,” which bows in September.
So I’ve been gone the last couple hours because I had an eye appointment. I got glasses for the first time about 2 years ago, and hadn’t been back since. Well, I noticed my glasses just weren’t cutting it anymore – so I decided to go in for a new checkup. Lo and behold my eyesite had gotten worse, they had to DOUBLE the strength of my perscription. Oh turning 30 has really been marvelous so far.
BUT – on the positive side…my new glasses are very nice. They are black and pink…and I got a pair of Coach sunglasses that are pink and black (prescription strength of course). Anyways…back to posting.
Plot Outline: A guy (Dane Cook) who breaks up with his longtime lady is shocked to hear that she gets engaged to her next boyfriend. He finds himself repeating this pattern and that hopeful single women seek him out dates so they’ll soon find Mr. Right. Oh, and PS… Jessica Alba is in various forms of underwear A L-O-T.
