Avril Lavigne has put her name to a new line of clothing set to go on sale in July in the US.

The Canadian superstar who shot to fame as a teenager with her hit ‘Complicated’ has called the clothing line ‘Abbey Dawn’ after a nickname given to her by her dad.

Lavigne describes the line, which will be sold in US department store Kohls, as ‘rock glam’ with prices ranging from $24 to $48, and includes hoodies, jeans, and T shirts in patterns you might expect from the Sk8er girl such as skull prints.

Lavigne says she helped choose fabrics, patterns and she says she’ll wear the clothes herself,

Pop star Avril Lavigne has been forced to drop the price of her California home by $1.2 million after it failed to sell for its original asking price.

The Mullholland Estates, Beverly Hills mansion was put on the property market for $7 million and attracted three potential buyers. The buyers are reported to have pulled out of the deal, leaving the 6,894 square foot property unsold.

Lavigne has now dropped the asking price of her former home with husband Deryck Whibley to $5.8 million in an attempt to attract new buyers.

Avril Lavigne has agreed to reconsider her backing dancers’ wages after the dance community threatened to boycott the singer/songwriter.

It was revealed earlier this week that the Complicated star was planning to pay her backing dancers below the standard industry rate for her upcoming tour, prompting the Dancers’ Alliance group to recommend a boycott of yesterday’s Los Angeles auditions.

But after an email circulated by the organization was leaked to the press, the musician’s management has agreed to reopen negotiations with dancers’ agencies.

Celebrity website PerezHilton.com had published the Dancers’ Alliance round-robin email earlier this week, after the low wages for Lavigne’s tour were revealed.

It said the Dancers’ Alliance had expressed its concerns to Lavigne’s management regarding the weekly wage of $287 before taxes, but “they have decided to move forward regardless”.

It continued: “Our recommendation is that our clients and all dancers in the city spread the word to friends, fellow dancers, dance schools, etc. emphasizing how inappropriate these rates are. Hopefully your actions can send a message to management that the rates are unacceptable for an artist of this calibre and that they cannot hire professional dancers for these fees.”

Lavigne’s publicist soon responded that the wages were fair and said the singer “prides herself in treating everyone on the tour with the utmost respect and consideration and pays them well within the industry standard”.

Industry insiders responded that the proposed rate for the tour would represent around $281 per show, less than half the industry standard, prompting Lavigne’s management to cancel yesterday’s audition and agree to reopen wage discussions.

In a statement on its MySpace page, the Dancers’ Alliance said: “Avril’s management has canceled the audition… and has opened up a new conversation with the agencies. Thanks for everyone’s support on this issue.”

It seems like it was just the other day that he was a Sk8er Boi and the other girl was a preppy, and then he became a big rock star and the preppy girl was mortified and Avril was the rock star’s girlfriend and everything worked out. It worked out ‘cos Avril was dancing on a car with all these other people dancing around her and being really jealous ‘cos Avril was wearing, like, some guy’s necktie over her T-shirt and they hadn’t thought of that.

And then, dear heart, Avril Lavigne, pride of Napanee, it got so complicated. Why’d ya have to go and do that?

Allegations that you were just a record-company created anti-Britney, a thing made in a Petri dish by marketers and mysterious professional songwriters. Allegations of plagiarism and then lawyer’s letters, and poor Chantal Kreviazuk retracting everything she said about you. And then the dumb-as-a-plank spitting and swearing at photographers and people who just wanted your autograph. Did you really have to sign eff-you instead of signing your name? Did you really have to go to the same club two nights in a row and spit at paparazzi? The apologies came later, too later. Why did ya have to go and act like you’re somebody else? Why did ya have to go and make it all so very complicated?

Whatever. I’m going to stop addressing questions to the pride of Napanee now and just give you the gist of a much-promoted thing airing tonight.
