They pick quite a day to meet for lunch!

I’m not sure if this spells a reconciliation, but according to X17, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were photographed having lunch together with their son yesterday – Valentine’s Day.

Pete, 31 and Ashlee, 26, were seen relaxing at the Beverly Hills Hotel Polo Lounge.

No word yet on whether the couple are reconsidering their decision to split. After embarking on a relationship in late 2006, they married in May 2008 and welcomed their son that fall. In last Wednesday’s statement following their divorce announcement, they said that Bronx’s “happiness and well-being remains our number-one priority.”

The duo encountered major problems just 13 months into their union — battling it out in explosive, often public spats.

“Ashlee loves Bronx but jumped into marriage and having a baby too quickly,” one pal told Us Weekly in summer 2009. “They feel they got trapped in a situation they were too young for.”

Pete Wentz doesn’t want his marriage to Ashlee Simpson to end. He is doing whatever he can to make the marriage work. Except the one thing that she wants. Which is to quit his touring with the band.

“Pete is in denial that the marriage is over,” the source tells RadarOnline.com. “He seems to think that if he turns on the charm he can sweet talk Ashlee into changing her mind and giving it another go.”

“What he doesn’t get though is that Ashlee has been unhappy for some time and she’s pretty adamant that she’s making the right decision.”

“I’m pretty sure though that if Pete committed to quit touring and promised Ashlee that he would be there full time for her and Bronx, then she would change her mind. But that’s just not going to happen.”

“When Fall Out Boy went on hiatus Pete was miserable – he really missed the camaraderie of being in a band and the thrill of performing live. So the next thing you know he’d formed another band and was right back to where he started – in the studio all the time and touring.”

“That’s not the life Ashlee wants for her and Bronx – waiting at home for ‘daddy’ to come home. They’ve basically hit a stalemate and neither side is willing to budge.”

“So all of Pete’s attempts to win Ashlee back are going to be pretty much in vain.”

That’s too bad. I really thought they made a good couple. Shows you what I know. But who knows. Maybe Ashlee will give him another chance.

Yesterday it was reported that Ashlee Simpson had filed for divorce. While sources told PEOPLE “It’s very amicable. They’re on very friendly terms and speaking – it’s fine,” looks like this may not actually be the case.

TMZ is reporting that Pete Wentz does not want to end his marriage, and Ashlee is the one who wants to leave. Wentz claims he’s “getting divorced against his will”, and he tried to talk her out of it. Despite Pete’s pleas, Ashlee moved ahead with the divorce.

So sad!

According to sources, Ashlee Simpson is claiming that Pete Wentz’s “erratic behavior” is what drove them apart (Ashlee filed for divorce this morning). TMZ reports that she simply couldn’t handle his crazy behavior. “She really wanted out” their source claims.

While Ashlee blames Pete’s behavior, Pete says it’s not true…they simply grew apart. No third parties were involved in the split. According to one connected source, “After Bronx was born Ashlee made a conscious decision to get out of the business, but Pete’s heart was in music so he kept touring and that became a big issue in their relationship.”

Where it could get sticky…they’re both asking a judge for primary physical custody of Bronx. Hopefully it doesn’t go all Halle and Gabriel!

According to TMZ, Ashlee Simpson has just filed for divorce from husband Pete Wentz! The couple, who have been married since May, 2008. She’s asking for joint custody and primary physical custody of their two-year-old Bronx.

In documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Simpson cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.

Simpson, who is repped by disso-queen Laura Wasser, is also asking for spousal and child support.   Wentz is repped by Stacy Phillips.

Sources tell TMZ there is no prenup.

Ashlee Simpson stepped out in Los Angeles yesterday sporting a newer, blonder ‘do!

The 26-year-old is currently in the midst of recording her fourth album. During a recent interview with Paper Magazine, she said the new album would have a “folk feel”. She is also creating a clothing line.
