Larry Birkhead and Virgie Arthur arrived separately in the Bahamas on the afternoon of March 16 to attend a crucial court hearing in the ongoing fight for custody of Anna Nicole Smith’s 6-month old daughter, Dannielynn.

The judge will determine if Howard K Stern is required to submit to a paternity test, even though he is listed on the baby’s birth certificate as her father. It is Birkhead’s hope that the DNA testing will take place today.

Both Stern and Birkhead claim to be Dannielynn’s biological father.

Birkhead, 34, says that he’s anticipating a positive outcome to today’s hearing. “I’m hoping for the best,” he says. “I’m hoping for good news.”

He also says that he has confidence in the Bahamian court system. Birkhead arrived with his Bahamian lawyer, Emmrick Knowles, after his American attorney, Debra Opri, abruptly dropped Birkhead as a client.

Opri told Extra that she “had enough,” but that she “wishes Larry the best.” When asked about Opri’s decision, Birkhead declined comment.

In the meantime, Birkhead is preparing a nursery for Dannielynn. “It’s great,” he said, when asked how decorating was coming along.

And the saga continues.

UPDATE: Larry Birkhead confirms to Usmagazine.com that he got some good news—the judge in the case has ordered DNA tests.

Howard K Stern was a no-show.

However, Birkhead and Stern have been ordered back to the Bahamas on Tuesday, March 20 to hear testimony from DNA experts, and to further discuss Stern’s fitness as a father.

When leaving the courtroom, Birkhead was in very good spirits. “I can’t say what happened today, just that I’m happy and grateful,” Birkhead tells Us. “I know I’m the father,” he continued. “I just want the court to know I’m the father. I will be back on Tuesday.”

TMZ has learned the new evidence in the Anna Nicole Smith mystery that triggered a police investigation centers around a computer.

The Seminole P.D. have been working with Bahamian police in evaluating evidence on a computer that was inside the hotel room where Anna Nicole died.

As first reported, the wife of Anna’s bodyguard, Big Moe, was on a computer near Anna’s bedside shortly before she died. Sources say Big Moe’s wife is not the focus of the police, but that there is information on the computer that has piqued the interest of cops.

Law enforcement sources in Florida tell TMZ the computer is the reason the release of the autopsy report was delayed.

TMZ has learned Anna Nicole Smith’s bodyguard talked to the Seminole Police Department today about the circumstances surrounding Smith’s death.

We’re told the cops went to Big Moe’s house this morning in Pembroke Pines, Florida, because they had questions about the security camera video at the hotel where Smith died. Sources say Big Moe told the cops Anna was on “heavy doses” of prescription drugs that day, including flu medicine and antibiotics. Sources say Moe also told cops that in the months leading up to Smith’s death, Howard K. Stern gave her “some types of drugs,” though he didn’t specifically know which. As he put it, “Anna was in a cloud.”

And there’s this: Although Moe has not told cops about this, he privately says that Howard K. Stern had certain patterns of conduct when it came to Anna Nicole, and that pattern changed the day she died. We’re told it has to do with how Howard would constantly check up on Anna, but he went MIA during the critical time before her death, and Moe says that was “highly strange.”

Anna Nicole Smith’s funeral was modeled after a wedding, right down to her ball gown.

“Every stitch was a labor of love,” says Beverly Hills designer Pol’ Atteu, who crafted the dress that Smith wore for her burial on March 2. “My tears are all over that dress.”

The pink and ivory gown (with a matching tiara) was made of French lace, pearls and Swarovski crystals and took a day and a half to make.

The heart design and embroidered silk flowers over the bust symbolize Smith’s devastation over son Daniel’s death, “She died of a broken heart.”

Well, they might not have been fake after all.  The Enquirer has released a statement…regarding the pics.

“We didn’t want to get anyone fired,” an Enquirer operative told The Post’s Braden Keil. Someone with access to the refrigerated drawers scored a big payday after pulling out Smith’s pre-embalmed body and unzipping the body bag for an Enquirer photographer to hurriedly snap her bluish face.’

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww…I totally hope this is not true.

Despite a cover line that screams, “ANNA NICOLE: THE LAST PHOTO!”, a caption inside the latest issue of the National Enquirer notes that the images of a blue-lipped Smith in a partially zipped body bag are “photo re-creations based on eyewitness accounts.”

For the tabloid that famously bribed one of Elvis Presley’s cousins to shoot photos of his open casket, isn’t this resort to Photoshop a bit cheap? “I don’t think so, because it’s so realistic and there’s so much news in the story,” argues Enquirer editor in chief David Perel. (The article claims it was pneumonia, not a drug overdose, that killed Smith.) “If you had our images side-by-side with the actual photos, I don’t know if you’d be able to tell them apart.”

Perel was cagey about the methods used to “re-create” Smith’s rigor-mortised visage. “It’s almost the way a sketch artist works. There were so many different layers of how to achieve it, I couldn’t even begin to describe it to you.”

As various parties continue to fight over the remains of Anna Nicole Smith and custody of her baby, John Travolta has stepped into the fray.

The Pulp Fiction star has decided to use her death as a chance to promote Narconon – the controversial Church of Scientology drug rehab programme – saying it could have saved the Playmate’s life.

A toxicology report from the 39- year-old’s autopsy has not been completed yet, but methadone and other drugs were discovered in the Florida hotel room where she died earlier this month.

Travolta said: ‘It’s so sad. We could have helped her with Narconon but didn’t get a chance to. I wish we had.’

The 53-year-old worked with Smith on the film Be Cool.

Narconon has been widely criticised for its unorthodox and controversial methods which include an intensive running programme, large doses of vitamins and long sauna sessions, designed to ‘run out’ drugs and ‘radiation’ from the body.

Scientologists claim Narconon is 85 per cent effective.

However, critics say it is a front to recruit vulnerable drug abusers into the religion.
