Anna Faris still feels a little sore about mocking Cameron Diaz in Lost In Translation – because she had no idea she was lampooning the Charlie’s Angels star.

It has become fabled that writer/director Sofia Coppola was poking fun at Diaz in the film, and cast Faris as the movie star’s alter-ego. But the Scary Movie star had no idea.

She says, “That’s been really hard… I auditioned, without having read the script, pretty much exactly the way I played it (character) in the movie. I filmed for only about a week, so I didn’t get that much one-on-one time with Sofia Coppola. When the movie came out eight or nine months later and these questions started coming, I felt blindsided. I felt defensive at first… I felt so terrible about the whole thing.”

Faris still cannot believe her Lost In Translation character is based on Diaz, despite the rumors: “I don’t think Sofia’s that vindictive”

Anna Faris researched her role as a Playboy outcast in new comedy House Bunny by wandering around Hugh Hefner’s famous Holmby Hills, California mansion.

In the film, the star plays a Playboy regular who becomes a sorority mother at college after she’s
kicked out of the mansion.

And to get a feel for life at Hefner’s fabled pad, Faris spent time there.

She says, “There are peacocks wandering around and beautiful girls and oddly placed bottles of baby oil. I checked out the grotto, but I didn’t go in. There’s the old addage you might get pregnant.”

And Faris is planning a return trip – House Bunny’s premiere party will be held at the Playboy Mansion.

She giggles, “I’m taking my mom.”

‘Scary Movie’ star Anna Faris is all toned up as an air-headed Playboy Bunny in her new comedy, ‘The House Bunny,’ in theaters August 22 — and she’s got the skinny on her new role for ET!

“My outfits are pretty skimpy in the movie, but it was fun for me; [my character is] not very self-conscious, clearly,” says Anna, adding simply that for her sleek bunny bod, “I worked out.”

And although she plays a well-intentioned but vacuous former Playmate, Anna has only good things to say about the real-life Playboy centerfolds, commenting, “I had never been to the [Playboy] mansion before. It turns out they’re great women — smart, funny.”

When it came to Playboy Playmate etiquette she says, “There is a Bunny lady. There’s a certain demeanor that’s important to have. She coached me a little bit.”

In ‘The House Bunny,’ Anna plays Shelley Darlington, a Playboy Playmate who is kicked out of the Playboy mansion because she’s “too old” at the age of 27. Homeless and without a job, she moves in with the brainy college girls of Zeta Alpha Zeta and learns a thing or two about individuality and heart — while they get a few tips on how to amp up their sex appeal and land the guys!

The film also stars Colin Hanks, “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee, Beverly D’Angelo and Rumer Willis, who says, “I had a lot of fun. [Before the movie I'd] never worn shorts that tiny [and] shirts that push up, I guess. It’s really fun.”

Anna Faris stars in the upcoming “The House Bunny” (which features the men’s magazine mogul and his three busty blondes), and has since been spending quite a bit of time at the iconic Playboy Mansion.

“I was just there yesterday. Hef has been an incredible support system; it’s thrilling to see him act,” Faris SAID last week, adding that she’s been made a real-life honorary girlfriend.

The bubbly blonde also told us to keep our eyes out for the September issue of Playboy (no confirmation that it is a centerfold), and although Anna sweated it out to be picture-perfect for the part, being a girlfriend didn’t involve too much mental stress.

“I did very little to emotionally prepare — I worked out, got hair extensions and bought lots of padded bras,” she said.

But speaking of Hef and his girlfriends, it seems things weren’t quite so sunny at the annual Fourth of July bash at the mansion on Friday.

According to some partygoers, there was a bit of a tiff among the girls and Kendra wasn’t speaking to Holly or Bridget.

“They didn’t even exchange glances,” an eyewitness said. “I don’t know what happened, but Kendra made sure to keep her distance.”

It has been speculated for quite some time that 23-year-old Wilkinson is getting ready to fly the coop, having been busy focusing on building her own brand-name independent of the “Girls Next Door.”

Only time will tell, but last time we spoke to Hef, himself, just a few weeks ago, he said that it’s quite amazing they’ve all been together for this long.

“Girls will be girls, and there are moments where they will disagree,” he said. “The amazing thing, quite frankly, is that we’re all together after six years.”
