American Idol is getting ALL new judges!

“American Idol” is reportedly getting new judges and a big makeover for Season 13.

According to sources, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are all getting pink slips! “All four are gone,” a source told TheWrap. “They feel they’ve lost their core audience and they want it back.”

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe will also reportedly be shown the door as part of an effort to reinvigorate the series that’s struggling in the ratings department. The rumored makeover also includes getting rid of dated themed-nights — sorry, Burt Bacharach — in an effort to attract a younger audience. The dated themes and stale format have been complaints of current “Idol” critics this season as the show has fallen to new ratings lows and is often bested by “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family.” NBC’s “The Voice” has also dethroned the series in the singing competition category.

The dismissal of current judges has been rumored over the last couple of weeks. There was a report that “Idol” had attempted to replace Carey with former judge Jennifer Lopez and soon after, another report stating Minaj will likely be shown the door. Carey’s husband Nick Cannon also hinted at Carey’s future exit.

“In the book of Mariah Carey, ‘American Idol’ will be a footnote,” Cannon said.

American Idol Ratings Hit All-Time Low

This Wednesday, American Idol had some BAD news!

Some shows have a successful run, and then need to think about calling it quits,  American Idol, which has been one of the most successful reality shows in history, may have to think about its future.

Deadline reports:

On Fox’s American Idol (3.0/9), it was Rock Night with the remaining finalists belting out Rolling Stones, Queen and Bon Jovi songs among others. Coming off last week’s all-time Wednesday low, the live two-hour show again hit a new Wednesday low in the adults 18-49 demographic. However, as Idol tends to see upward movement in its final numbers, the low might not hold. Last night’s Idol dipped 3% from last week’s fast nationals result and 6% from the final numbers. With 11.48 million watching, Idol also dipped to its smallest Wednesday audience since August 7, 2002, during its first season.

Uh oh, Idol.

With new shows like How To Live With Your Parents For The Rest of Your Life and old hits like Modern Family, how will this reality staple fare? Hard to say, but keep watching (or not, just read about it, because the rest of America doesn’t seem to be watching Idol these days!).

Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young Have Engagement Photos

After becoming engaged on-air last May, Idol alumni Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young have taken their engagement photos!

And yes, they’re everything you thought they were- lots of makeup, corny poses and toothy smiles! Wohoo!

The couple had the photos shot in Los Angeles’s Laurel Canyon neighborhood, and are delighted with the results (as am I).  Here’s a little history of these two lovebirds, via People Magazine:

Season 5 heartthrob Young, 32, and season 3′s runner-up DeGarmo, 25, met in the spring of 2010 when both signed on to costar in the Tony-winning Broadway revival of the musical Hair. According to DeGarmo, they became “best friends” during the run of the show, and soon started dating.

After Hair, they continued to work together. “Ace and I are hosting our own show on Hallmark Movie Channel, called Planet 360,” DeGarmo tells People. “It’s a weekly behind-the-scenes pop culture news show. It’s entertainment from all angles.”

“On our first show,” says Young, “we interviewed Don Cheadle and the rest of the cast of House of Lies on set in Las Vegas.”

But their excitement about their professional life pales in comparison to that about their upcoming wedding – which they plan for L.A. this June, having hired wedding planner Renee Strauss to handle many of the details.

“We have been having a blast planning our wedding and working together,” says Young, while DeGarmo adds, “There are so many details and lots of things to do, but Ace and I are having so much fun planning it together.”

So, the question is- are you fan of this couple? I find them corny, but lots of people seem to be rooting for them and their post-Idol empire.  See their photos HERE and give us your feedback!

More on the Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj Feud

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have been feuding on American Idol allll last season, and we can’t wait to watch the fruits of their dramatic labors!

Even better, the stars are now commenting to the media about the intensity!  Mariey Carey opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about her already famous fight with Nicki during an audition round as she said:

“Sometimes things get heated for their own reasons. I don’t think the panel has an issue.”

Don’t you? Hmm…

Mariah played it nice with the response, but Nicki Minaj- who has REFUSED to discuss the feud- said something a little snarky when she was asked if her image might be a bit too outrageous for the show:

“I could think of at least one other person that shows more cleavage and skin than me.”

SNAP. We don’t think she’s talking about Randy Jackson and/or Keith Urban on this one, folks. Can’t wait for this season!!!

American Idol releases first official photo of new judges, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson!

Fox has just released the first official photo of the new American Idol judging table. So who are the judges? Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson!

The photo was taken on the first day of auditions, and was released only two hours after Nicki and Keith were confirmed ad judges.

The photo shows Jackson sitting in his usual seat at one end, with Carey at the other end of the judges’ table. Urban is sitting on Carey’s immediate left, and Minaj is positioned between him and Jackson. (For the past two seasons, Jennifer Lopez sat in the middle, flanked by Steven Tyler and Jackson.)

Ryan Seacrest, also pictured, is returning as host, while Interscope Records chairman Jimmy Iovine is expected to return to provide commentary.

Auditions kicked off Sunday in New York. Other audition cities include Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, N.C.., San Antonio, Baton Rouge, La., and Oklahoma City.

Idol returns in January.

What do you think of the new judges? Do you think they’ll make a good team? *UPDATE* Looks like they may NOT make a good team after all. According to TMZ, Mariah and Nicki are already fighting like cats and dogs, and they’ve just begun to film.

Mariah Carey wasted no time proving what we told you 2 weeks ago — there’s only room for one diva on “American Idol.”

Carey and Nicki Minaj went at it during the first “A.I.” taping Sunday in NYC.  When Nicki started critiquing a contestant, Mariah would interrupt — not once, but many times.  Each time Mariah interrupted, Nicki fought back by loudly talking over Mariah.

One “A.I.” spy said Mariah and Nicki tried to cover their disdain for each other but everyone saw through it, adding, “These girls just don’t like each other.”

You may recall, we reported when producers called Mariah to tell her that Nicki would probably be joining her as a judge, she hung up the phone.
