More on the Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj Feud

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have been feuding on American Idol allll last season, and we can’t wait to watch the fruits of their dramatic labors!

Even better, the stars are now commenting to the media about the intensity!  Mariey Carey opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about her already famous fight with Nicki during an audition round as she said:

“Sometimes things get heated for their own reasons. I don’t think the panel has an issue.”

Don’t you? Hmm…

Mariah played it nice with the response, but Nicki Minaj- who has REFUSED to discuss the feud- said something a little snarky when she was asked if her image might be a bit too outrageous for the show:

“I could think of at least one other person that shows more cleavage and skin than me.”

SNAP. We don’t think she’s talking about Randy Jackson and/or Keith Urban on this one, folks. Can’t wait for this season!!!

American Idol releases first official photo of new judges, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson!

Fox has just released the first official photo of the new American Idol judging table. So who are the judges? Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson!

The photo was taken on the first day of auditions, and was released only two hours after Nicki and Keith were confirmed ad judges.

The photo shows Jackson sitting in his usual seat at one end, with Carey at the other end of the judges’ table. Urban is sitting on Carey’s immediate left, and Minaj is positioned between him and Jackson. (For the past two seasons, Jennifer Lopez sat in the middle, flanked by Steven Tyler and Jackson.)

Ryan Seacrest, also pictured, is returning as host, while Interscope Records chairman Jimmy Iovine is expected to return to provide commentary.

Auditions kicked off Sunday in New York. Other audition cities include Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, N.C.., San Antonio, Baton Rouge, La., and Oklahoma City.

Idol returns in January.

What do you think of the new judges? Do you think they’ll make a good team? *UPDATE* Looks like they may NOT make a good team after all. According to TMZ, Mariah and Nicki are already fighting like cats and dogs, and they’ve just begun to film.

Mariah Carey wasted no time proving what we told you 2 weeks ago — there’s only room for one diva on “American Idol.”

Carey and Nicki Minaj went at it during the first “A.I.” taping Sunday in NYC.  When Nicki started critiquing a contestant, Mariah would interrupt — not once, but many times.  Each time Mariah interrupted, Nicki fought back by loudly talking over Mariah.

One “A.I.” spy said Mariah and Nicki tried to cover their disdain for each other but everyone saw through it, adding, “These girls just don’t like each other.”

You may recall, we reported when producers called Mariah to tell her that Nicki would probably be joining her as a judge, she hung up the phone.

Mariah Carey being paid $18 million to host ‘American Idol’ for ONE season!

You think ‘American Idol’ producers are getting desperate, ’cause I’m thinking they’re desperate for ratings. Why else would they drop $18 million for ONE year to secure Mariah Carey as the judge? The reported $18 million paycheck will make Mariah the highest paid judge in reality TV.

Her deal is rumored to be just under $18 million for one year with an option to renew,” a source familiar with the negotiation tells PEOPLE.

Carey, 42, will reportedly be the highest paid judge on any reality show, although departed judge Jennifer Lopez raked in $20 million plus bonuses her second year, according to a source.

With Lopez – whose exit had nothing to do with dollar signs, said a source – Steven Tyler and potentially Randy Jackson out of the mix, Carey’s panel companions (and their pay rates) have yet to be confirmed.

“It’s gonna be so much fun working on @AmericanIdol,” Carey Tweeted Monday when her new gig was made official. “As a singer-songwriter, I’m excited to help find and nurture new talent.”

And Carey isn’t the only one who pulls in serious pay on reality TV. According to reports, Christina Aguilera will make about $10 million on the third season of The Voice. Howard Stern’s turn as a judge on America’s Got Talent came with a $15 million paycheck.

Money aside, Carey is “totally elated,” adds the source. “She’s in the studio, and she’s getting ready to record the video for her new single, “Triumphant” – certainly an appropriate title, and it was written before the deal.”

Seriously though – $18 MILLION!! I loved ‘American Idol’ for the first couple years, but it is sooooooo past it’s prime. I think they should stick a fork in it and call it done. I can’t even tell you who won the last – say – 5 seasons!

Do you still watch ‘American Idol’?

Jennifer Lopez confirms her departure from American Idol.

Buh Bye Jennifer.

Jennifer Lopez finally makes the official announcement after hinting around that she will not return as an American Idol judge.

Lopez officially made the confirmation while talking with Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his Friday morning radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest.

“I really have been torn,” said Lopez, who has been juggling her music, film and Idol duties with motherhood to twins Emme and Max, 4.

“When I signed on to Idol [in 2010], I signed on to do one year. I wound up doing two years because I fell in love with the show,” she told Seacrest in a tearful voice. “I didn’t know I would be so moved emotionally . . . it was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it.”

Lopez, in the midst of a tour with Enrique Iglesias, added: It gets more complicated as the kids get a little bigger. Somethng had to give. Something had to give. I really was dreading this phone call with you!”

Continued the star: “You’re gonna make me cry. The time has come.”

I am looking forward to a fresh judging panel.  The show lost it’s appeal to me when Simon and Paula left.

Who would you like to see as a judge on American Idol?

Is Randy Jackson also leaving American Idol?

Two judges down and one to go!

It looks like Randy Jackson may be following Steven Tyler’s lead and be leaving American Idol.  Jennifer Lopez has also been hinting that she may exit the show as well.

Rumors are spreading that there may be whole new judging panel on American Idol next season.  Randy Jackson may continue on as a mentor to contestants but not as a judge.

“[Show producers] think they need to freshen everything up now,” the source explains.

One very likely new judge? Mariah Carey, whose manager is Jackson himself, and who could fill a similar judge’s role assumed by fellow superstar Lopez, 42.

“They are in serious talks with Mariah and it’s very close to being a done deal,” the source says. “And they will move Randy into a more mentoring role.”

Insiders are speculating that Fergie and Adam Lambert my join the judging table of American Idol.

Do you think they would be a good fit?  Will you miss Randy Jackson as a judge?
