Alec Baldwin’s voicemail rant to his 11-year-old daughter has provoked a torrent of criticism – on his own Web site.
Writes “Wendy”: “Never call your daughter a pig or brainless. She will carry this in her heart forever. Words are like toothpaste; once they come out there’s no putting them back where they came from.”
Seconds “Kayla”: “Grow up and think of that CHILD. Be a man for once. There is no way on EARTH you can justify calling your child a pig. NONE.”
In the voicemail, which appeared on TMZ.com last week, Baldwin, 49, calls Ireland, his daughter with Kim Basinger, a “rude little pig” and threatens to “straighten your ass out.”
His rep later said in a statement that Baldwin “acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child” but that “everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years.”
Baldwin himself blamed his outburst – and its leak to the press – on Basinger, writing on his Web site on Friday: “I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. … Everyone who knows me privately knows that certain people will go to any lengths to embarrass me and to disrupt my relationship with my daughter.”
Some visitors to Baldwin’s site take him to task for blaming Basinger. Writes “Sandi”: “Alec, even though Kim was wrong leaking your tape, you had no right leaving a message like that for your daughter. She is the innocent one in your very public and messy divorce.”
But many of the messages are supportive. “Alec,” writes “Kelly,” “I am sorry that the public feels they have a right to judge your situation. Stay strong, love your children, take the high road and don’t look down. You are a father and a man first.”
Adds “Sandy”: “Alec, stay strong! Until someone is put in your shoes they have no idea the pain you are going through, I had to watch it first hand with my son. It is devastating. I never used my son as a pawn. A child needs both parents. Good luck & god Bless.”
However, Baldwin was not treated as sympathetically in the press. On Saturday, in an article about the actor’s online expression of remorse, the The New York Post ran the headline: ” ‘Pig’ Baldwin Oinks Up an Apology.’ ” And on Sunday, the New York Daily News reported that fans were turning against Baldwin because of the tirade.
Baldwin has reportedly been barred from seeing Ireland until a May 4 court date. The actor’s rep, Matthew Hiltzik, told the Post that the actor will follow the judge’s orders, and said: “Alec truly cares about the best interests of his daughter.”
You’re just NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS. Alec Baldwin apparently upset with his daughter for not answering the phone – goes off on her, in an unbelievable way. Keep in mind – his daughter is only 11.

An enraged Alec Baldwin unleashed a volcanic tirade of threats and insults on his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, calling her a “thoughtless little pig,” and bashing her mother Kim Basinger — and TMZ has obtained the whole thing unfiltered and raw. And, we’ve learned, the tape could cost Baldwin his visitation rights.
After Ireland failed to answer her father’s scheduled morning phone call from New York on April 11, Alec went bersek on her voice mail, saying “Once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone,” adding, “you have insulted me for the last time.”
Switching his train of thought, Baldwin then exercised his incredible parenting skills and took a shot at his ex-wife, declaring, “I don’t give a damn that you’re 12-years-old or 11-years-old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do.” The irate Baldwin went on to say, “You’ve make me feel like s**t” and threatened to “straighten your ass out.”

“This crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother,” screamed Baldwin, “and you do it to me constantly over and over again.”
Before hanging up, Baldwin warned the child, “You better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me.” That’s tomorrow.
We’ve learned, Wednesday, that Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner Maren Nelson heard the tape and temporarily suspended Baldwin’s visitation rights. A hearing is set for May 4, where the judge could permanently deny Baldwin visitation or contact with Ireland.
Calls to Basinger’s attorneys, celebrity lawyers Neal Hersh and Judy Bogen, were not returned.
Baldwin’s lawyer, Vicki Greene, told TMZ, “Whatever happened yesterday was sealed and confidential. What you’re telling me you’ve got you shouldn’t have.”
Kim has been saying for years how awful Alec is. I wonder who “leaked” this message. I’m just stunned, really.
Alec Baldwin can’t seem to find the right woman – and soon he may turn to the Internet for help.
In a tongue-in-cheek interview in the February issue of Glamour, Baldwin says he’s thought about dipping into the online-dating scene, and jokingly imagines the kind of responses he might get.
“I could post my picture and say, ‘People tell me I look like Alec Baldwin.’ They’ll go, ‘Oh, I hate him’ or ‘Who the hell is he?’ ”
Since his split from his wife of eight years, Kim Basinger, in 2002, Baldwin, 48, has been linked to various women, including actress Kristin Davis and lawyer Nicole Seidel.
But he says the single life isn’t easy. “You meet people who are great, but they’re not who you want to turn the lights out with,” he says.
In fact, the 30 Rock costar says he wants to feel the kind of love he once had for Basinger, with whom he’s now in an ugly custody battle over their 11-year-old daughter, Ireland.
“I would love to marry (again). I want to be in love again,” Baldwin says. “I was in love when I was married, I’m not ashamed to say. I used to wake up in the morning and just look at (Kim) and say, ‘What do you want for breakfast, baby? Special K with blueberries? Let me go get some.’ ”
If he does find the right woman, does he want to have more children?
“Yes,” he replies. “The only time I’m truly happy is with my daughter. I can’t think that this is my only shot at fatherhood.”
