This is so sad.

Alison A. Carey is the older sister of Mariah Carey, and the two have been estranged for YEARS. Never has this estrangement become more evident than when Alison was arrested on a prostitution charge on Friday, when she was arrested by Saugerties police following an undercover investigation into allegations that she was prostituting out of a town of Saugerties hotel, and using a lot of her sister’s cache to get clients.

Alison Carey was arrested after soliciting money in exchange for sexual favors from an undercover police officer posing as a client, and when she was arrested…she identified herself as the sister of the performer, which is probably the saddest fact about this whole thing. Mariah’s suuuper rich, and is marrying James Packer, a billionaire. It sucks that she couldn’t throw her sister some cash so she didn’t have to turn to prostitution, unless she wanted to.

According to The Daily Freeman, older Carey (whom police described as transient) was advertising her services on the Internet using Mariah’s hits to help advertise herself, as well. According to her posting, had been working out of the hotel for about a week:

One ad, posted at 6:18 p.m. on Friday, contains two photos of Carey and states: “Im a pretty lady looking for guys who are looking to have some fun and get into a world of pleasure that other woman just cant provide two you, woman with the ability to make the earth move for you and to get you to see stars, oh yea with me its,”ITS SUCH A SWEET,SWEET FANTASY BABY, WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES I COME AND TAKE YOU ON AND ON.” That phrasing mimics the lyrics from Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit “Fantasy.”

Ugh, this story makes me want to crawl into a hole and die. I feel sad for everyone involved.
