Martha Stewart is NOT impressed by you HIPSTERS.
The lifestyle guru has a new interview with Luxury Listings where she skewers the work ethic of the millennial generation. And you know, by “skewer” I mean she mildly insults, in her own Martha Stewart-y way. capable of growing a lovely little tomato plant in their own tiny apartment.
Martha Stewart isnââ¬â¢t impressed by millennials, who she says need to stop living with their parents and find some ââ¬Åinitiative.ââ¬Â The domestic diva, 74, didnââ¬â¢t mince her words in a new interview with Luxury Listings.
ââ¬ÅI think every business is trying to target millennials. But who are millennials?ââ¬Â she said. ââ¬ÅNow we are finding out that they are living with their parents. They donââ¬â¢t have the initiative to go out and find a little apartment and grow a tomato plant on the terrace.ââ¬Â
She continued, ââ¬ÅI understand the plight of younger people .ââ¬â°.ââ¬â°. The economic circumstances out there are very grim. But you have to work for it. You have to strive for it. You have to go after it.ââ¬Â Stewart added, ââ¬ÅI got married at 19, and I immediately got an apartment and I fixed it up. I was very proud of everything I did. I got the furniture at auctions for pennies.ââ¬Â
She said that she was encouraged by restaurateur David Chang to focus on educating young people during a recent dinner at her Bedford, NY, farm.
ââ¬ÅDavid Chang kept saying, ââ¬ËMartha, you know so much and the millennials have to know this stuff! .ââ¬â°.ââ¬â°. They donââ¬â¢t know how to grow spinach.ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬Â
Listen- the world has changed since Martha was a youth, but I think she’s not giving millennials the credit they deserve. It’s hard out there!
What do YOU think of her views on the millennial generation?
