Kourtney Kardashian revealed a habit of hers via her website on Tuesday: she drinks ghee- a premium clarified butter- every morning. Move over Gwyneth Paltrow, there’s a new amazing natural habit-doer in town…
Ghee has its origins in ancient India. According to Kourtney, it is believed to be healing to both mind and body:
Kardashian explains that ghee is â€œrich in oil-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as K2 and CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) antioxidants,â€ and that itâ€™s â€œcategorized as a healthy fat, like coconut oil, meaning the fatty acids are absorbed directly into the liver and burnt as energy,â€ which helps burn other fats and could help promote weight loss.
â€œGhee is the first thing I put in my body every morning,â€ the svelte 36-year-old shared. â€œI take one big teaspoon of ghee every morning and melt it on the stove in a pan and drink it out of a cute little ceramic white cup. After I take it, I don’t eat anything for 20 minutes, and then I drink a glass of water before eating food. In my kitchen, I only cook with ghee and coconut oil and try to incorporate it into my meals as much as possible. We make French toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, basically anything we can with ghee.â€
The mom ofÂ Mason, 6, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 15 months, will also â€œsneak half a teaspoon of melted ghee into my kids’ warm milk because I believe in it so much.â€
Kardashian learned about ghee and its health benefits from her â€œNanaâ€ on her late father Robertâ€™s side.
â€œ[She] actually taught my mom how to make ghee and she has been cooking with it since I was a little girl, so my sisters and I always used it, not even knowing what it was called or any of the benefits,â€ Kardashian added.

Truth: I know a bunch of people who swear by this type of thing- buttery fat in the morning to jumpstart your metabolism and give you good, vitamin-y fats. Still, it’s definitely not a proven thing.
