Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed that he turned down the role of Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars.”
When speaking with “ShortList”, Leonardo reveals that he was considered for the role of Anakin in the “Star Wars” prequels. In the end, he didn’t feel right for the role and it went to Hayden Christensen.
He revealed, “I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that, yes. I just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point.”
He also said that he had conversations about taking the role of Robin in “Batman Forever” and Peter Parker in “Spider-Man”.
Despite turning down those opportunities, he does feel open to doing blockbuster movies in the future. He said, “You never know. You never know. They’re getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies. I haven’t yet. But no, I don’t rule out anything.”
Leonardo has had a lot of success in the movie industry and says that he feels lucky to have been given a chance. He said, “It’s sometimes emotional watching [What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and This Boy’s Life] because I feel like I’m that kid again. Really just incredibly happy too have gotten a shot. So I remember a lot of those moments on set like they were yesterday, especially working with people like DeNiro and Depp at that age. It was like winning the lottery.”
