Like most of the world, I find it hard to feel sorry for the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow. She’s lived a super posh existence and was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. So to hear her complain about money and the differences in Hollywood doesn’t exactly make her argument. Yes, I get that there is a difference in pay between male and female actors and entertainers, but does she have the right to whine?
In a new interview with Variety, she talked about the painful wage gap in Hollywood. She said, “Your salary is a way to quantify what you’re worth. If men are being paid a lot more for doing the same thing, it feels s**tty.”
While she does have a point, when you’re an actress being compared to an actor, the salary gap may also reflect a certain amount of talent – or lack thereof….right?
She also went after her “Iron Man” co-star Robert Downey Jr. She said, “Look, nobody is worth the money that Robert Downey Jr. is worth. But if I told you the disparity, you would probably be surprised.”
Do you feel she’s right? I’m all for feminism and closing the wage gaps that obviously exist, but this might be a better argument coming from someone who could actually carry an entire movie. What do you think?
