As y’all probably know, Donald Trump announced today that he’s seeking the Republican nomination for President. Let the games begin?
People reports that Trump has some very altruistic reasoning for seeking the bid. Namely…wait for it…he’s very rich. People reports:
“So, ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again,” the billionaire businessman and reality-TV star said when he announced his bid at the Trump Tower in New York.
“I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created,” he added to applause from the crowd.
Trump, 68, didn’t hesitate to remind his supporters that he’s “really rich.” “That’s the kind of thinking you need for this country. It sounds crass, but it’s not crass.”
Trump added that he has a total net worth of more than $8 billion and that he plans on running his campaign with his own money. (Just FYI, Forbes lists his net worth as half that amount, $4.1 billion.)
“That’s the kind of thinking our country needs,” he continued. “We have the opposite thinking. We have losers. We have people that don’t have it. We have people that are morally corrupt.”
He’s also quick to note his success is way more than that of his presidential hopeful peers.
“I’m the most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far. Nobody’s ever been more successful than me. I’m the most successful person ever to run,” he added. “Ross Perot isn’t successful like me. [Mitt] Romney – I have a Gucci store that’s worth more than Romney.”
Yep, this is gonna be interesting. That’s what ya’ll are looking for in a president, right? Being rich, crass and boastful? Sounds like Trump is a shoo in for the next election!
