Another misogynistic magazine cover for Jason Derulo–that being said, his interview is kiiiiinda fun to read.
The singer/dancer sat down with Billboard to talk about all kinds of things…INCLUDING his high-profile breakup with Jordin Sparks. Here’s a snippet:
On what he was like as a kid: ââ¬ÅMy mom says I was an introvert,ââ¬Â says Derulo, gnashing gum. ââ¬ÅI never saw myself that way, but I was always focused. I didnââ¬â¢t spend a lot of time doing things that I didnââ¬â¢t think would make me great. I studied all kinds of dance, all types of music. I got good grades. I started hitting the recording studio around 13.ââ¬Â
On songwriting: ââ¬ÅYou canââ¬â¢t pull me out of the studio,ââ¬Â says Derulo. He estimates he and his collaborators wrote more than 100 tracks for the new album, many on a studio-outfitted bus in the wee aftershow hours on tour in 2014. ââ¬ÅSongwriting is a muscle,ââ¬Â he says happily. ââ¬ÅThe more you do it, the better you get at it.ââ¬Â
What his love life looks like: ââ¬ÅA deck of cards,ââ¬Â he says, slapping the table and laughing. But really, heââ¬â¢s ââ¬Åhaving a good time getting to know people.ââ¬Â He thinks Tinder looks fun, but heââ¬â¢s afraid a star like himself using it would be creepy: ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢d be like, ââ¬ËA million new requests today!ââ¬â¢ Thatââ¬â¢s just wrong.ââ¬Â
On his breakup behavior: ââ¬ÅI do get tired of playing nice,ââ¬Â he says. ââ¬ÅEspecially when people think I did something wrong, or that she broke up with me. But itââ¬â¢s so behind me.ââ¬Â Later, discussing his binge TV-watching habits, he admits Empire gets one thing in particular exactly right: celebrities dating as a publicity stunt. ââ¬ÅThat happens all the time,ââ¬Â he says, without elaborating.
And a gimme- what FOOD does Derulo fantasize about the most? “Warm lava cake with vanilla ice cream,ââ¬Â says Jason Derulo. ââ¬ÅThat shit is unbelievable.ââ¬Â
Hit the gym or eat lava cake? DECISIONS DECISIONS, JASON.ÃÂ (I’d pick lava cake)
