Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton tied the knot back in 2008 and split in July 2013 when Nicole accused him of adultery – which he didn’t deny, by the way. Well, her divorce petition was finalized on Wednesday in just over a minute.
Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton have been granted a decree nisi, effectively ending their six-year marriage, after a 68-second hearing at the high court in London. In official court papers, Appleton said Gallagher had “admitted adultery to me” on 17 July 2013, “prior to it becoming publicised in national newspapers”. The couple have not lived together since that time.
The Beady Eye frontman reportedly declined to contest Appleton’s divorce petition and agreed to pay her “reasonable [legal] costs”.
If there are no disputes, then a decree nisi can become a decree absolute within six weeks and a day under British law.
Neither Appleton nor Gallagher were present at the hearing, where District Judge Anne Aitken found that Appleton had “sufficiently proved” the contents of her petition. The All Saints singer “is entitled to a decree of divorce, the marriage having irretrievably broken down, the facts found proved being the respondent’s adultery,” said Aitken.
Well, that’s that, I suppose. Liam and Nicole have one son – a 12-year-old named Gene – from their relationship, so here’s hoping they can keep things civil for his case.
