Sugarland Plays First Show Since Tragedy
Last week in Indiana, Sugarland was devasted when their stage collapsed and killed 5 people, During their first performance since the tragedy, the group asked for a moment of silence in remembrance for the lives lost:
Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush took a moment of silence for their injured fans and “the beautiful lives that were lost.” Their instruments were also lost in the tragedy as the duo played for the crowd with new instruments.
Earlier in the week they explained on their website, ”This incredible machine is more than a tour and more than a set.” Looking to music for strength, they indicated, “We have always celebrated music as a healer.”
“Words, too may provide comfort for the families who lost loved ones at the state fair. They added, ”Our road family experienced its traumas together. While we all scattered to our given families for their comfort, the trauma we experienced together binds us in a unique way that we share only with each other, and those who were there.”
