Cheryl Cole was dropped from the judging panel on ‘X-Factor’ and has been replaced by ‘Pussycat Dolls’ singer Nicole Scherzinger.

Sources say Cheryl was sent packing because producers thought her English accent was too thick, and would be difficult for Americans to understand. But that wasn’t the only problem.

There were other issues too — we’re told Cheryl and fellow judge Paula Abdul had a “lack of chemistry” … and Cheryl was more expendable.

Producers now want Cheryl to return to the UK version of the show — but according to sources, Cheryl’s royally pissed over how this situation was handled … and may sever ties with “X-Factor” entirely.

With Cheryl out, Steve Jones will be the only host on the show — which debuts in September — while Nicole Scherzinger fills the open seat on the judging panel.

Calls to Simon Cowell still haven’t been returned.

Lindsay Lohan is officially under house arrest. According to TMZ, the actress surrendered to authorities this morning and has begun serving her house arrest sentence.

Lohan arrived to the Lynwood Jail at 5:02 AM this morning to check in — where she was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet. She was quickly sent home to her pad in Venice, CA and we’re told she’ll spend roughly 35 days in confinement.

According to the booking sheet, 24-year-old Lohan was listed at 5’7″ and 117 lbs.

The sentence stems from Lohan’s legal troubles involving a necklace she allegedly stole from a Venice jeweler. Lohan pled no contest in the case.

In addition to the house arrest, Lohan was also ordered to complete 480 hours of community service – which includes a stint at the L.A. County morgue.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stepped out yesterday afternoon for a day of shopping. They stopped by Ozzie Dots, which is a party supply store. Maybe they’re buying party favors for Shiloh’s birthday? Their daughter turns 5 on Friday!

I’m kinda bummed by January Jones‘ dress here, because she had been looking absolutely adorable lately! Pregnancy suits her! Even in jeans and a t-shirt she looks amazing. So why am I not feeling this dress, designed by Preen? I think I just expected more. It’s not horrible, but it’s definitely not amazing.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo let’s move on to the rumor mill! Guess who was absent (as far as I can tell) from the ‘X-Men’ premiere last night? The director, Matthew Vaughn. Problem is, Matthew is MARRIED. Could this be why she’s not naming her baby’s father?

Sources tell The Daily January’s baby daddy most definitely IS married. January got pregnant while filming ‘X-Men’, so if it’s not Matthew, it could be one of these men: Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt or James McAvoy.

I have nothing nice to say about cheaters, so I hope it’s not true January would be knocked up by someone else’s husband.

Reynolds has risen from comedy cutup to rom-com heartthrob to megabudget action star on the back of his everyman appeal—by just being a guy.

“The Hollywood a**hole is becoming a bit of a dinosaur every day, thank God,” says Jason Bateman—Reynold’s co-star in the upcoming The Change-Up. “But it’s still not the norm to be as decent as Ryan is. Decent without being a boob. He’s the World’s Sexiest Man and all that sh*t, but he’s still a real guy, not a noodle.”

Sandra Bullock says her longtime friend and costar has a complexity beyond the friendly face that draws an audience in: “It makes you want to watch more of him to figure it out. “I’m not out of it yet. At all,” he admits, but notes he still has “optimism” for the future.

One thing that future might not hold is another marriage. “I don’t think I want to get married again,” muses the hunk, whose previous exes include one-time fiance Alanis Morissette. “But you always reevaluate these things.”

“Any kind of crisis can be good,” he muses of his sad split. “It wakes you up. I gotta say, I’m a different person than I was six months ago.”

On deciding to call it quits with Scarlett:

“Departing a relationship and still maintaining the idea that this is still the same person I married is a great luxury that I experienced. Thankfully I was in a relationship where two people chose to remain on the high road in every regard.”

On dating again:

“I’m very happy not to be in a relationship right now,” he says. “That’s okay. I didn’t plan on it, that’s for sure . . . but that’s okay.”

Dating “just seems so kind of alien to me at this point,” he explains. “I’ve been in relationships pretty much since high school. Some people look at that as a good thing. I think wiser people might see that as a house of cards.”

On not settling on one genre of films:

“I’m not declaring nothing, man! I’m getting away with something I’d like to continue getting away with.”

Joking about his dark side:

“You want to see what I’m like when we turn the tape recorder off? I slit throats, that’s what I do. I only drink panda tears. Do not bring me water. Do not bring me filtered water. I want the tears of a newborn panda, and I will have them—because I’m Ryan Reynolds!”

Jen Aniston is trying to keep it on the DL, but she’s secretly dating Justin Theroux. The picture above was the best pic I could get of Justin, which doesn’t do him justice – because he really is quite hot!

“Jen is totally into him,” a source tells Us Weekly. “They have been hanging out for months.”

The two started off as pals and costars on the set of Wanderlust. But lately Theroux, 39, and Aniston, 42, are inseparable.

“She wants to be with him all the time,” the source adds. “She’s diving in headfirst.” Aniston hasn’t dated anyone seriously since John Mayer in 2009.

For the record, Jennifer’s rep says they are NOT dating, but that doesn’t really mean much. I don’t think she’d confirm it until they were walking down the aisle.
