Did Bill Paxton really just say that?

One of The Golden Globes most memorable moments was Michael C. Hall’s victory in the Best Actor, TV Series Drama category for his wonderful work on “Dexter.” Not only was this win long overdue, but the timing was even sweeter following last week’s admission that Michael’s been receiving treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
However, at least one person in the Shrine Auditorium might have felt that sympathy factored in to Michael’s win, his category rival, Bill Paxton. I’m no lip reader, but it looks suspiciously like the “Big Love” loser says something about “the cancer card” when the camera cuts to him during Michael’s walk to the podium.
Here’s the video: Moment in question comes at 1:43. I’ve watched it like 5 times, and I SWEAR he says “the cancer card”. What a messed up thing to say!!!

I watched the video and at first glance it does look like he could be saying that, especially if someone already put it in your head that he is. But after repeating it several times, I don’t think he’s saying it. If you watch his mouth, the word that appears to be “card,” has a clear “ff” sound at the end. When you say “card,” your lips kind of pucker and stay open. When you say “ff,” you touch your top teeth to your bottom lip. I believe he was saying the word “off.”

Aren’t awards votes submitted further in advance than one week? How would the voters be swayed to vote for him if he only announced it a week ago?

The video is down now, but going by what mcr said, there’s a good chance he could be saying “cancer scarf”, which is a common term for the wrap or hat worn to conceal cancer-related hair loss. Possibly someone at his table had just asked him what Hall was wearing?

Seriously, i don’t see it. And what an awful to accuse someone of it it isn’t really true.
