Ed McMahon Dies at 86

Ed McMahon died early this morning, his rep has announced. He was 86.
The former sidekick to Johnny Carson passed away peacefully at Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center shortly after midnight, his publicist, Howard Bragman, told CNN.
McMahon — who was battling cancer, and was hospitalized for pneumonia in January — had been suffered health problems in recent years. He broke his neck in a 2007 fall. In 2002, he sued several insurance companies and contractors over mold in his mansion and won a $7 million settlement.
Although he was paid around $1 million a year as Carson’s sidekick, according to published reports, and he hosted a variety of shows — including Star Search — he faced financial problems last year.
He fought foreclosure on his multi-million Beverly Hills home after falling $644,000 behind on his $4.8-million mortgage.
“If you spend more money than you make, you know what happens. And it can happen. You know, a couple of divorces thrown in, a few things like that,” McMahon told Larry King.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela, and five children. McMahon’s sixth child, Michael, died in 1995.

May God rest his soul in peace… And I pray God gives his family and friends the strength to deal with their loss.

Leno was good, but no one can beat the magic that Johnny and Ed had. Probably one of the best sidekicks of all time. Fans are paying their respects at a memorial for him here:
