STOP READING IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED…

8:02 – Jennifer Lopez is freaking annoying, and not wearing her ring!  Hmmm… drama.

8:03 – Kate Winslet wins for “The Reader” – note to self, must go see this movie.  Love Kate, glad she won!

8:06 – If Miley Cyrus wins for best song, I’m going to make my next drink a double.

8:08 – Bruce Springsteen wins for “The Wrestler” – I can’t tell you how bad I want to see that!!  I have no idea if I spelled his name right.  Too lazy to google it.  (PS: I just googled it, and shock!  I spelled it right!)

8:13 – Commercial break, and I’m drinking  pineapple juice with Vodka and Chambord.  Very nice.

8:14 – Wish I could read lips, I want to know what Brad Pitt just said to Robert Downey Jr.  PS: Eva Longoria looks great.  PPS: Rumer Willis should not be a redhead.

8:16 – Troy just says to me “Can you believe Ashton Kutcher is still with Demi Moore?  What the crap.”  I don’t think he even reads my blog, so I’m proud he even knows they’re together.

Love Tom Wilkinson, glad he won.

8: 17 – Is it wrong that I don’t want to see “John Adams”? – Is Tom Wilkinson already drunk?

8:21 – I like seeing what everyone’s doing when the commercial breaks end.  Who are they talking to?  Can I read their lips?  (Still, no)

8:27 – I’ve decided I really dislike Eva Mendes’ dress.  What is that on her hip?

8:29 -  Please God, let John Hamm win for Mad Men.  Hair that awesome, has got to be good for something. Gabrielle Bryne won.  WHAT!? He didn’t even show up!  I was rooting for you, John.

8:30 – Best actress, tv show.  Sally Field is good, but all she does is cry!  Give it to January Jones!  (Mad Men rocks) Oh wait, I love Kyra Sedgewick too…Hmmm,  tough call.  Golden Globe goes to Anna Paquin!  Okay, I’m not getting what I want so far.  I tried watching True Blood, and it’s too gory for me.  I can’t handle that stuff HBO!  Hurry up and bring Big Love back.

8:36 – Ricky Gervais is not funny.  Well, at least I don’t think he’s funny.  Okay, he might be a little funny.  And he’s drinking on stage.  That’s funny.

Erin and I have been trying for about a week to see “Happy Go Lucky” and it’s just not happening.  Erin – we have to go see it this week!

The Jonas Brothers: two words come to mind…  Brown and hair.

Wall-E is one of my favorite movies of 2008 – so glad it won!!

PS: I’m not checking spelling or anything…so hopefully this isn’t terrible.  (Only on drink 2, so I should be good for a while)

8:42 – Is it just me, or does Johnny Depp look really uncomfortable?  It must be hard to be that freaking cool.   I wish he would shave his goatee off, if you can’t grow it in fully, then don’t even bother.  Okay, whatever, you’re still hot.

Sally Hawkins just won for Happy Go Lucky…will have to go see that this week.  ERIN!  (Sally looks like she’s going to pass out…that would be a Golden Globes first)

8:51 – THANK GOD JAKE GYLLENHAAL FINALLY CUT HIS HAIR!  Benjamin Button is freaking awesome.

8:53 – Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange appear to be all over each other.  No matter what the reason, it just looks strange.  (For the record, they’re promoting their new movie, “Grey Gardens.”  Whatever.

Just caught Troy taking swigs of my drink.  Hmm…

8:57 – Demi Moore has found the fountain of youth…she does not age!! Supporting actor: I secretly want Tom Cruise to win.  Okay, I would be okay with Robert Downey Jr. too.  Heath Ledger is going to win… hands down.

Yep, I was right Heath Ledger won.  That’s fair…he should have won it.  Everyone is standing.  Christopher Nolan accepting the award.   RIP Heath.

This is getting really long – I’ll put the rest after the jump!

9:11 – Laura Linney just won for John Adams (again, boooooring) and I like her, but I find her so vanilla.  Just had to throw that out there.  She looks great, though.

9:17 – Gerard Butler is on stage, and I’m reminded again that I do not find him cute!  I know everyone else does, and that I’m probably nuts, but I don’t think he’s cute at all.  Have you ever noticed he talks funny?  His mouth is crooked or something.

Note to self: Rent “In Bruges” probably pretty good.  Colin Farrell cuter than Gerard Butler.

9:19 – Zach & Miri stars Elisabeth Banks and Seth Rogan on stage.  Love her, she’s so beautiful.  And HOLY COW Seth Rogan has lost a TON of weight!! He’s losing it for his new superhero movie – YES he’s playing a superhero – The Green Hornet.

Note to self:  Need to check out “Slumdog Millionaire” everyone keeps talking about it, must be good.

9:21: ICYDK Poll: Who has better hair, Patrick Dempsey or John Hamm?

Alec Baldwin wins for “30 Rock”.  Bravo – funny show.  I don’t actually ever watch it, but I have like 13 episodes saved in my DVR.  It’s one of those shows I just don’t really get to.  Too many episodes of “Intervention” and “Food Network Challenge” to watch first.

9:28 – I love Renee Zellweger, but this is not a flattering look.  I’m trying to find something I like…I’m thinking the skirt?

9:30 – Megan Fox and Terrance Howard on stage.  Everyone thinks Megan Fox is so hot, and all I think when I see her is bad skin.  When I saw her at the MTV Movie Awards up close and personal, her skin was like a “before” shot in the Proactiv commercials.  Seriously.  But her dress is pretty.

Paul Giamatti wins for John Adams.  Okay, I’m starting to think I’m going to have to watch John Adams.  He’s a goofy looking dude, but I love him… He’ll always be Pig Vomit to me.  (Anyone see Private Parts?)

9:33 – Camera catches Marc Anthony rubbing Jennifer Lopez’s back.  Maybe there’s no drama after all.

Best TV Series – who’s gonna get it?  I like “30 Rock” even if I don’t watch it… I hate, LOATHE “Californication”…to nasty for me…. I freaking love “Entourage”, I’d be happy with that (Jeremy Piven needs to lay off the sushi)…I like “The Office” another DVR favorite…I never got into Weeds, and I can’t point to why.  I love Mary Louise Parker – but I’m not a fan of the guy who plays her brother.  Too lazy to Google.

The winner is “30 Rock” of course!  Time to watch the last 15 episodes in my DVR.  Or however many there are.  Tracy Morgan is hilarious.  And freaking nasty – if you listen to Howard Stern, you’ll know what I’m talking about.  He would make Larry Flynt blush.

PS: I’m on to drink #3, I’m watching Troy – make sure he doesn’t sneak any this time.

9:41 – My DVR has caught up, and I’m forced to watch this live.  Do you know how hard it is to watch commercials these days!?

9:43  – Pierce Bronson announcing “Mamma Mia”.  I could watch that movie over and over, I loved it so much!

9:45 – “Slumdog Millionaire” wins for best original score.  I think I might have to see this, but will probably wait for DVD.

9:46 – David Duchovny onstage…I have nothing to say about him.  Well, I kind of did, but chose not to say them. :)

Christina Applegate looks stunning!  Love “Samantha Who” – even if I don’t watch it anymore.  Personally, I don’t get the “Ugly Betty” craze, never liked it.  Debra Messing - not a fan.  Love Mary Louise Parker, don’t watch “Weeds”.  Tina Fey wins for “30 Rock”.  Troy just says “I happened to have seen a couple of those shows, and they’re pretty funny!  We should watch it together!”  So we may actually sit down and watch this show sometime soon.  He’s not a tv guy, so we’ll see if I can actually get him to watch with me.

Tina Fey is a genius.  Agree?

9:49 – Just tried to read Tom Hanks lips… I rewound the DVR like 3 times, never could get it. I’m just going to say it’s because he wasn’t looking directly at the camera.

9:55 – Martin Scorsese giving Stephen Speilberg the Cecil B. DeMille award.  Gotta give it to the guy, he definitely deserves it.  Watching all these Speilberg clips, makes me want to watch them all over again.  How is it I never saw “Munich”?

10:07 – Love Stephen Speilberg, but is he still talking?

10:13 – Emma Thompson looks like a giant standing next to Dustin Hoffman.  OMG Emma Thompson is totally drunk buzzed not sober.  I think Dustin Hoffman should have worn the heels, not Emma.

Award for best director – should go to David Fincher…bet that “Slumdog Millionaire” guy gets it.  Okay, maybe Sam Mendes will get it.  Who is Danny Boyle!?  Damnit! It is “Slumdog Millionaire” guy!  Okay, maybe I should go see this movie before I go see “Happy-Go-Lucky”.

10:16 – Sigourney Weaver is sipping the crazy juice from Demi Moore’s fountain of youth.  She doesn’t age either?  “Revolutionary Road” looks freaking depressing.  I told Troy I don’t want to go see it, and of course he says the preview gave him goosebumps.

10:18 – Sandra Bullock looks great.  I never saw “Vicky Christina Barcelona”… really wanted to, never got around to it.

Colin Farrell wins for best actor for “In Bruges”.  He’s looking pretty good. Still a litle mousey though, should put that weight back on.

10:28 – Sacha Baron Cohen on stage.  It’s strange seeing him out of character.  Dare I say he’s oddly attractive?    A Charlie Sheen sex joke?  Really?  Oh, he just pissed off the crowd with a Guy Richie joke.  Lighten up people!

BEST PICTURE!! I hope it’s at least something I’ve seen, so I can agree… Vicky Christina Barcelona!? Haven’t seen it!  Could it have been better than “Burn After Reading”? Okay, I’m going to have to make sure to see that.  When is it out on DVD? Where is Javier Bardem?  Where is Scarlett Johansson?  Why does Angeline Jolie look so pissed?  Is she pissed her man’s movie didn’t win?  Lighten up Angelina, you get to go home with him.

10:38 – Cameron Diaz looks good from afar…up close, not so much.  Mark Wahlberg looks hot any which way.  Best actress…who’s it gonna be?  Angelina JolieAnne Hathaway?  I say not Angelina… that’s about it.  Kate Winslet gets it for “Revolutionary Road”!! Man, she gets both best supporting at best actress?! Is that a first?  Angelina’s gotta be having a field day with this one!!  HAHAHAHA – Kate Winslet forgot about you Angelina!  (Somewhere Jennifer Aniston is laughing her ass off)

I hope that Leonardo Dicaprio gets the award for best actor, and I haven’t even seen the movie yet.  But he’s cute, and therefor I think he deserves it.

Update:  I’m done drinking…or Troy’s done making them for me, one of the two.  Either way – we’re eating popcorn now.

10:43 – Rainn Wilson and Blake Lively onstage.  Like them both….Rainn slightly more than Blake.  Blake sounds like she’s talking with marbles in her mouth.

10:44 – Well, if “Mad Men’s” gonna win anything – then this is it!!!  Best TV Show!  Hell yeah it is!! I’m so excited!  “Mad Men” has to be my favorite show on TV… but “Damages” is a close second.  See John, I sent you my good vibes earlier, and it paid off!

10:50 – Best Actor…man this is a tight race… wonder who’s going to get it.  I think they should each win.  Mickey Rourke got it!  I think I was secretly hoping he would get it above everyone else.  Bravo Mickey!!!

Oops, he trips up the stairs.  Let’s hope that was just nerves.  His hair is really freaky.  He’s twitching.  What’s with the twitching?  I love Darren Aronofsky – each of his movies are spectacular.  When will “The Wrestler” be out here?  My TV just went blank…what the crap.  Okay it’s back.  Maybe they had to edit him?

He thanks his dogs… don’t know if that’s sad – or cute.

10:59 – Tom Cruise presents for Best Picture, Drama.  PS: Where’s Katie?  Still in NY?  Who gets for best pic?  None other than freaking “Slumdog Millionaire!”  I will be seeing this movie tomorrow during the day while my kids are in school.  I’ll be that mom in the back row seeing it by myself. :)

What have I learned from tonight’s show?  Must see “Slumdog Millionaire” and “John Adams”… hopefully soon.

Well ladies and gents, it’s been fun live-blogging.  Now I’m going to go pass out…wake up early, and post even more about the Globes.  Thanks for reading this – if anyone actually made it all the way to the end!

Peace!
Jocelyn

I love Mad Men too! Bummer he didn’t win.

  2. ms cute pants Says:

I don’t know where Jennifer Lopez is going with that dress. I am not liking it! On the other hand, celebs are often seen with their rings one day and without the next. Heck I know non celebs that do this too. Why all the attention? Who cares?

I am feeling you on the Miley Cyrus thing…

Jon Hamm…Yummm I cannot wait for season 3 to start this summer.

Same for BIG LOVE! It’s next week! The previews look awesome. Are you ready?

Did not like Renee’s hair either. You know it’s going to make the worst hair list tomorrow.

Weeds is good! You should watch it. If you have time to catch up to the 4 seasons…

I have to say I have stopped watching Primetime. Ugly Better sucks. Grey’s this week left me wondering why I even bothered to tune in. Primetime is not cutting it anymore. I’d rather watch HBO & Showtime shows.

And finally, Heath is going to win them all from here on out. Who can compete with a dead guy anyway? Not to mention his performance was out of this world, and he’d still be winning even if he were alive…

Thanks for posting the pics as and when! I love your site!

  3. Brandi Says:

Who needs a TV when I have you Jocelyn??? You must see Slumdog!

  4. JustForComments Says:

What’s with all the nude dresses? Yuck! No color whatsover and really doesn’t look good on anyone! I know we are in a recession but a little color please?!

  5. Lucy Says:

thanks, Jocelyn…great recap!!! lol at the recap regarding Angelina!!!

  6. lips Says:

Angelina (who I love) is starting to show her contrived spin machine. Everytime you see her she’s talking about “the kids” trying to get everyone to believe that she’s some mother teresa for having them, and then as she and Brad step out of the limo last night, she adjust’s his tie. She’s trying to erase all our memories of her Billy Bob, blood drinking, brother kissing, husband stealing ways. Nobody else has noticed this??? I liked her better when she was that way anyways.

  7. anonymous Says:

I feel a divorce coming with JLO and Marc this is the second major a event that she isn’t wearing her wedding ring

Hi Honey – Live blogging during award shows is right up your alley! Good job. This year’s GG’s were great! Seemed to be a lot of sincereity in those accepatance speeches. I’m sure the celebs are feeling the crunch of the economy and a globe helps them get that next picture. Enjoyed the recap, do it again. Take on all the award shows and let your readers know you’ll be doing it, in advance, so they can do it with you live.
